  1. They're going to "spruce up" the Tree of Life? What "fir"? With the money shortage are they going out on a limb? Is the Tree of Life the root of the problem in WDW?

  2. Eh, if Disney's stealing Splash Mountain from us I can't fault people for stealing Splash Mountain from Disney.

  3. I’m not convinced the SM sign was stolen. It was grouted or epoxied to the wall and someone would need some tools to remove this. I don’t think anyone is sneaking any tools into the park. Maybe it was removed by Disney Imagineers so that it could be used as a template for a custom replacement sign for the re-theme?

  4. Housekeeping every day was disappearing long before Covid, because it's completely unneeded and bad for the environment. How many people have a maid come in to clean every day at home? When I stayed in 2019, I think once every third day was the default!

  5. The sign wasn’t stolen (unless it was by a cast member.) I watched cast members take it down because someone broke the fasteners on it and I jokingly offered them $20 for it. This was early on the morning of the 14th so I’m sure there’s no sense in putting it back up now.

Farewell, Splash Mountain: Everything was satisfactual.

  6. I think its CRAZY Disney is charging premium prices for hotel rooms & just now providing daily cleaning services. Also- can we all acknowledge (again) Mr. Igers obvious influence behind the scenes- characters coming back, room services returning etc….

  7. I'm okay with every other day housekeeping when I stay at a moderate. We don't stay in the room long enough each day to really make a mess that necessitates every day service. But, it's just two of us. I could see a larger family, especially with kids, needing more frequent service.

  8. Im with you, I love housekeeping service, I smile every time i walk into my hotel room and its clean and bed made 🙂

  9. I'm still sad that The Great Movie ride closed. My favorite part of tge entire ride was the ending movie montage. I wish Disney would make another updated Great Movie Ride attractions and place it in Paris Disney Studios 😊

  10. People do really weird stuff in their rooms; mousekeeping isn't paid enough for cleaning up after the slobs.

  11. While building rides from the 80s why don’t they go ahead and put ten million into just rebuilding a new version of the original imagination? I used to think this was ridiculous and could never happen but they obviously want to keep figment so they should just do it and actually make good figment mercy.

  12. The Great Movie Ride, I straight up mourned. Splash Mountain I feel a little bittersweet. I'll miss the memories, but Tiana is also basically my favorite princess. So her being mixed with one of my favorite rides is awesome! I'm looking forward to it!

  13. According to Circus World Museum in Baraboo, the proper pronunciation of "calliope" is "ca'-lee-ope", and not "ca-lie'-oh-pee" as most people think (and as used at 6:28). However, having grown up saying the latter, I don't mind it as much, but now that I live near the museum, I would like to hear the other version more often in the wild.

  14. When are we going to stop saying "delayed by COVID" and switch to "delayed to service the debt on boring studio projects?"

  15. Honestly the Carousel Coffee is such an improvement from the small offering that used to be and it's simple which is nice. We do not need the park over themed. It's a nice breezy space to get coffee. Decor reminds me of the coffee shop at Disneyland Hotel. It doesn't need to be overdone to be good. They are definitely making more at this cafe than the sundries shop I'm guessing. Looks like they are continuing to tweak. Maybe there was supply issues with furnishings/art.

  16. You know carousel coffee could go for a real splash of color with their photos. I’m thinking a nice sepia or beige.

Though in all seriousness I think it’s a right direction to include a more historical photo. Personally with the name of carousel coffee – I would’ve done a nice turn of the century theme. Striped wall paper, maybe a carousel horse etc.

  17. As far as Mousekeeping… the only complaints I have read have been for the LACK of, never anyone NOT wanting it… at least in all of the Groups I am in

  18. Yeah we decline the housekeeping. We bring our pillows, CPAP and I’m 6’5” and always untuck the sheets because my feet normally hang off the bed.

  19. They aren’t required to leave the ride open. They’re doing it so fans can say goodbye. But if people are gonna steal their stuff, they could be ‘that way’ about it and close the ride now.

  20. You should bring tictoc's "mr unofficial" on you show. He is a true Disney guy and he would mix well with you guys.

  21. tom back at it again asking me to like and subscribe before the video even starts

  22. dang, i prefer thumper. it was a lot cuter (i never seen bambi but i did see zootopia)

  23. My girls got the chance to ride Splash Mountain one last time last night. Many more people were taking photos and selfies in front of the sign, but I didn't see anyone attempting to rip down any props. The thought did occur to me, though. There are NO MORE souvenirs left in the gift shop. However, there are Splash Mountain images that can be found at the pressed penny machines. I took advantage and got as many as I could find.

  24. Before the pandemic I think I remember being paid to skip housekeeping. Other hotels that are cheaper have daily housekeeping so Disney needs to step back up with that.

  25. I wish Disney didn’t have to disrespect black people like this. Yes, there were mistakes with the creation of Song of the South. Disney tried to forego a great many of those very mistakes and focus on purely just the Br’er characters in this ride. Those characters were created by black Africans! They’ve always been integral to black history since their creation!

I love The Princess and the Frog and have been wanting Tiana to have her own attraction for some time, but that’s just it. Her OWN attraction, as in from the ground up. 5ere was literally no need to do this retheme aside from political reasons, and at that it’s actually more so political misunderstanding. These cornerstones of African history have been so mistreated by Disney in all this time, it’s not even funny.

Add to it that Princess and the Frog is just a black reskin of a story created by a white woman and it just does not look good at all for Disney. It shows how clumsy they are at actually catering to the crowds they’re trying to, and honestly comes off as an I’ll-informed and out-of-touch company trying to do whatever they can to get money out of a crowd that only thinks it knows what it wants. Add to it that even if you think about it like “black people are finally getting their own Disney ride”, you have to realize that it’s just a retheme instead of a brand new attraction from the ground up (what I wanted for Tiana and still think she should get). It’s another bad case for Disney because it basically just looks like black people getting the “sloppy seconds” replacement from the predominantly white-led company.

If Disney actually properly contextualized these characters instead of letting the negative, I’ll-informed stench of the public’s perception of Song of the South continue to fester, the vast majority of the public would be singing a much different tune about these characters going away nowadays. Most of the negativity comes from people who only rely on the supposed “knowledge” of others instead of doing their own research.

Most people who call these characters and this ride racist haven’t even seen the movie it’s based on and don’t know the true history of these characters. Disney could have easily ditched this Song of the South issue by doing something like creating a new animated property with these characters that’s been properly attuned to modern tastes if they really wanted to cleanse the public perception. I still think one of the worst decisions they made was not releasing the film on Disney+ with a content warning.

The film has things that are primarily questionable if you have no context, which is something a rerelease could have easily fixed. It’s no more culturally offensive than many of Disney’s other “animated classics”. People only think it’s worse than them because public discussion and hate mongering over the film have ballooned the image of its problems to an out-of-control size and Disney has refuse to properly address it.

This is a crime, and black people are being robbed without even knowing it.

  26. About the splash shirt, you could have a run of different colors. It would technically not be the same shirt. I know there is probably enough interest to keep selling out. You did that with the cast members are the magic shirts. I know that was for the cast members food bank, a good cause, so maybe not the same situation. This is an iconic ride that will be closing.
