Route 299 – Driving in Japan Countryside to Chichibu City outside of Tokyo

Driving in the Japanese countryside, especially on the way to Chichibu City which is located outside of Tokyo, is a unique experience. The roads are well-maintained and the scenery is beautiful, with lush green mountains and rice fields as far as the eye can see. The drive can be quite winding and hilly, so it’s important to pay attention to the road. In the city of Chichibu, you can expect to find traditional Japanese architecture, temples, and shrines, as well as outdoor activities such as hiking and hot springs. Additionally, the city is famous for the Chichibu Night Festival, which is held annually in December and features a colorful parade of floats.
