Japanese cranes are monogamous and usually mate for life. People like watching the cranes dance in pairs, which is believed to be a courtship dance. It starts with a song as they turn their beaks up to the sky then bow, before dancing in seemingly synchronized movement. At Kushiro Shitsugen National Park in Kushiro, Hokkaido, visitors may see see this graceful bird dance. (@reiji_yoshida_jt photo)
