This week, I’m filming a collaboration with @TinyHomeTours so I’m not shooting a vlog. In the meantime, I edited our most recent podcast for this week. I had a week gap in podcast posting up to this point.

  1. Linnea, just ignore the hateful people. I am your mom's age, and would love to experience what you have. You are awesome! What about some type of Hand-Operated Dryer Spinner, Non-Electric ? Mybe you could even make one. I heard wringing is not good for wool. I think this would really help your drying time.

  2. Superb series here the way you are open and reflective about the process. In a challenging environment like you are in it is very interesting to see how you can get it to where it is "tiny home living" with the spirit of having/doing less enabling you to live more. I am writing you from my plugged in camper, parked in my front lawn LOL doing my work type writing away from the kids for a minute here so I get to vicariously live the tiny home life through you both! Thanks so much for sharing you journey! I hope to incorporate some of the philosophies you are demonstrating albeit in tiny chunks of life when the opportunity arises.

  3. You can freeze dry clothes outside 😉. Kind of fun cracking them off the line and will be a lot easier to finish drying the remaining damp indoors.

  4. Again, I just love you two! I appreciate your honesty! I’m my goal is an off grid cabin. Was supposed to be with my ex boyfriend also named Chris!! Lol. So, far now it’s just be me and hopefully someone with your amazing skills and relationship views in the future. You are both inspiring! 💙💖

  5. Contributing to society: so the people who get out of bed, go to an 8-10 hour a day job/5 days a week, come home, eat, go to bed then get up to do it all over again everyday are doing something more special for society??? People are delusional. Chris and Linnea you’re doing great, living the lives you WANT to live versus living for a paycheck.

  6. Linnea, you have that tone like that moment on your big hike with your brother…. "Basically we are gonna keep hiking because that's all we're doing"….. followed by Noah's laughter on your attitude 😆 Love you all ❤🐾❤🐾

  7. This was nice and laid back. Went well with my coffee.😊
I didn't realize how much orchestrating y'all were doing behind the scenes for your jobs. That would wear me out more than the physical stuff. Hope your laundry day went well. Going to be intetesting to see how the freeze drying your clothes turned out. Much love to all four of you. Have a good one!💙💙🐾💙🐾💙❄

  8. well, now I’m PISSED OFF! Who the hell says you’re not contributing to “society”……and what the hell does that mean anyway???? You are not taking anything from society! I would say that most people who are “contributing” to society are doing mre harm than good. You guys are taking care of all your own sh*t, which is more than what MOST people do. You are merely living an alternative lifestyle…..living your lives the way YOU see fit!

  9. Fun story. When I lived in Greenland in the winter. I tried drying my nylons outside. They broke into small pieces when I wanted to move them inside. It was like dry ice. 😃

  10. My friends house in the mountains of San Diego was full of holes with acorns stuck in them made by woodpeckers 🤷‍♀️ they eventually resided their house. They save them for when bugs aren't as plentiful. Geniuses. ❤️

  11. Linnea…..just remember……those people who send hateful/negative comments your way……are actually just JEALOUS of you!!! Blow them off….don’t let them get to you guys

  12. To begin, I am 75 years old. When I was much younger before I married I was very interested in off grid living. Back then (50 years ago) van living was unheard of. I have loved following Linnea and Akelia for quite awhile. And through them I have met you Chris. I admire that you both are following your dreams…and through that process you have met each other. I am reminded of the book “Chop Wood, Carry Water.” Keep it up! And I’ll be following you, living the life through you. I thank you for that.

  13. In response to Linnea's reactions to some of the comments she has received about water from the tap, contributing to society, adapting, blah blah blah… I find it fascinating (and sometimes appalling) what people will comment. We've become such a judgy society. At 65, I see/perceive things differently. I chuckle when you receive comments about water from the tap or the toilet because I remember a time when families drew their water from a well and brought it in the house, and having to use an outhouse – when canning was a necessity. We raised and killed our own meat, grew our produce. (Granted, we were in a rural area.) People forget that we haven't always had conveniences like indoor plumbing and big box stores. The dangers of so totally adapting to the conveniences was evidenced in my area in 2021 when we had a massive winter storm that knocked out water and electricity. Many in this area are now installing woodstoves, redoing plumbing, etc, "just in case" such a thing happens again. I think we've over-adapted! Living "the simple life" is a lot more work! I'm enjoying your journey, and positive I'm spoiled to running water and a flushing toilet. LOL! Stay safe and well…

  14. Woodpeckers do put nuts in trees. 😊 don’t worry about what others say, even me for that matter, live your true authentic life. ❤

  15. Contributing to society? Wouldn't it be a bummer if your "contribution to society" was trolling a YouTube channel to criticize and demean? Going out of your way to try to make someone feel bad? Yea, that is just a contribution to the decline of society, Rock on Chris and Linnea. Entertainment is a huge part of life and I thank you for entertaining me.

  16. I don't understand why folks say mean and hateful things to you. The two of you are so amazing and watching you both learn as you go is so interesting to me. I have such respect for each of you!

  17. Try to ignore those negative posts Linnea. I always tell myself that it’s not my issues it’s theirs. Envy that they are not living their own dreams so trying to bring others down. Also, Linnea, I would love to see you doing more outdoor/backcountry stuff. I miss that content!

  18. — You two are ROCKIN' IT!!! Thorough Preparation + Opportunity = Dreams Come True!!!
Been watching both of you since yous started preparing for this adventure 2-3 months ago. Been following Linnea+Akela for almost a year now. I'm 72 yrs YOUNG … going on 52; last May 2021, opportunity presented me a 2018 Ford Transit 250. Took me 3 months to downsize from a 30' 5th wheel to livin' comfortable in a 6×8 space on wheels… 🤔 Set off on maiden voyage Sept 5th, 2021, starting with touring Central Oregon to La Grande, then 2 wks traveling up the Columbia gorge to Seaside on the coast. Then we took 2 months visiting Seaside to Newport, OR. The 2021 Holidays were spent with my church family in the little cow town of Molalla, OR.
    — In January, 2022, we put on our big girl pants, driving this still-unfamiliar rig thru 4 states, heading to Quartsite, AZ for Bob Wells' January WRTR/RTR! Spent 6 wks in Quartsite; then in middle of Feb, we got approved to be campground hosts in Oregon State Parks. March 2022 found us at our 1st assignment: Valley of the Rogue in Grants Pass for 2 months cleaning yurts. We closed out the 2022 host season as horse camp host at Emigrant Springs/Hilgard June-Sept.
    — I LOVE THIS LIFE!!! Thorough Preparation + Divine Opportunity = My Dreams are coming true…at 72! Talk about a new lease on life!
    — Keep doing what your hearts' desire! You are doing your dream with LOVE. You're keeping notes for future seasons; that, put in book form, will contribute to society as our culture becomes more nomadic due to the OUTRAGEOUS cost to live the life our culture thinks as "normal." Politics are going to blow this country apart over the next year & I want to be able to head to Canada ASAP when that happens… See yous on the road … Happy trails, Ms. CharLee🙋‍♀ Nikki, the Adventure Dog🐕 Angel-van 🚐

  19. Please do not listen to this crap!! You are showing us how it is done. We all know what is really happening. I enjoy being taught the better quality of life!!!

  20. I love you too.. a hard days work is so satisfying especially when you are your own boss and you do it for you…
I think you inspire people to live this way and the way this world is changing we all need to see how we can adapt to change as you said Chris.. keep the podcasts and videos coming guys..
    Best wishes from Ireland 🇮🇪

  21. Just wanted to say Im sorry for the hate you guys have been getting. Don't let them dull your shine. You're both very good, genuine people and it shines through your videos. Let Sallypants be miserable and keep on, keepin on!

  22. Keep your heads up and goal-oriented. Ignorant people will try to bring you down to their level – do not give them another second of your energy. Remember why you are in the winters woods – to challenge yourself and make your relationship stronger. Love you both and stay safe!

  23. FYI. You are contributing to society. Your telling how and what you are doing to live out there. And sharing your personal feelings and emotions. Just saying. 😊

  24. Linnea, girl…welcome to the world of some people(mostly women, lol) that are probably angry simply because YOU HAVE A MAN NOW, lol!! I have seen that happen with MANY youtubers, and it is both the funniest and fkn saddest thing ever!! IF YOU LET IT, social media and ALL of the negative drama it can bring, will actually be harder to deal with than ANYTHING you will run into out there in the elements! So find a way to let those comments roll tf down and off your back. Because that is WAY TOO MUCH POWER to hand over to these people, lol! You guys are doing your thing, keep at it!!

  25. Love you both, but to be honest this podcast kind of drags and even Linnea appears kind of bored. I’m still watching it all the way through, though, so I don’t know what that says about me lol.

  26. Both of you are wonderful people, enjoying your newfound lifestyle. Don’t let the naysayers get you down. Just have fun!🎉

  27. Hello! I live fulltime in a camper trailer in Sweden and have a small YouTube channel. I was supposed to start traveling Europe but covid stopped me from doing that until now. Have y'all had any issues with it that traveling USA?

  28. I think you both are awesome. I'd hazard to say that those commenting negatively are just so scared that someone (you) may choose to live an extraordinary life, and they just can't handle it. You are making them uncomfortable. And to that I say Bravo.

  29. I so crave the simplicity of being in the woods. Try to Ignore those judgemental douchebags!! You guys are doing amazing. So inspirational.

We had a woodpecker drill such a hole in a tree at our campsite. We heard it fall. Went looking and it VERY narrowly missed the outhouse.

How long do you leave the bread in the coals for? I want to try making it this summer 🙂

  30. Contributing to society is a subjective thing. What one person believes it is, may not be what another person thinks. You're free people, you decide what type of life you want. Obviously, a bunch of us would love to be living your type of life. You provide entertainment & get paid for it. You pay your taxes. You support charities. You guys are an inspiration, & a good example for other young people. On a higher level, you are experiencing similar survival skills that our great, great, great grandparents thought was just normal life. Unlike many younger, & even older, people…we haven't ever had to figure out how to get, store, preserve food, prepare wood for heat, etc etc. You have gained an appreciation for life that most people in the Western world can't comprehend. So, I love watching you & imagining being in a similar situation. Don't let the grumpy, unhappy folks cause you one minute of pain. PS…I'm with Chris, I need an indoor toilet. 🤣

  31. You all need to ignore those nasty comments. I know, it's easier said than done. You get way more positive supportive comments that you need to rely on.
For me, Chris saying you can adapt easier than you think, taking about the guy who eats beans for 3 days, sleep on the floor hit me. I'm newly retired and am just obsessively thinking I can't make it, I don't have enough funds etc etc. This made me stop and think….whoa… you can adapt.
    Thanks Chris.

  32. I had to stop the podcast after that "contributing to society comment". So please tell me how getting up in the morning, making your kuerig coffee, going to work, giving half your earnings to corrupt governments, going to bed and repeating til your dead and not LIVING the life you are given is "contributing"? You two are showing the world basic survival skills which, for all the 🐑 out there, will be needed much sooner rather than later. That is the epitomy of contributing. People live in denial. It pis…..es me off.

  33. Woodpeckers LOVE peanuts, and, they drill holes for nesting. They are omnivores. Take care…✌🏼❤️🌱

  34. I love watching you guys. Watching your experiences and travels…watching your pups. I love a few outdoor experiences in my RV with my pups. You have to ignore these negative people. I know hard to do. Just amazes me how rude people can be. Please keep sharing your experiences.

  35. I know it's your adventure, but thank you for taking us along. I have been learning so much from you two. I like watching you cook with the Dutch oven.

  36. Have you watched Kiun B's channel? They show how they do laundry in the coldest place on earth. Very interesting. Life in Yakutian.

  37. Had to laugh when Linnea was talking about going into the river from a sauna..chip a hole n sit like in a tub..my mom used to hang out in the winter n bring inside almost dry

  38. Please don’t let the hater’s effect you. You our both so amazing.
Linnea you inspire me so much, and have such a big positive impact on my Well-being. You make me feel like i can do all these amazing things too. I’m newly living in a small van in the winter in the uk. When i feel like I’m nuts not living to what’s meant to be the norm, i watch you to give me strength. Keep being awesome. Big love xx

  39. Hey there, I love sharing your adventures,. My husband and I are so happy and in love but we can't sleep together, he is huge and hot, (in all ways) and between him and Princess the cat, its like sleeping between two grills and being toasted. Its best not to try and endure something because not getting good sleep is dangerous.

  40. There's always the know-it-alls that believe they're smarter than the average bear and make those negative comments. I hate that for you. You are learning along the way but know alot too, and that is the interest of your videos. Y'all do you and ignore those ppl. You're happy and content, they are not.
