A very emotional visit to Hiroshima Peace Memorial. The A-Bomb Dome (Genbaku Dome), also known as the Hiroshima Peace Memorial, is the only structure left standing near the hypocenter of the first atomic bomb which exploded on 6 August 1945. The Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum displays belongings left by the victims, photos, and other materials that convey the horror of that event. #japan2023, #hiroshima2023, japan 2023, hiroshima 2023, atom bomb, world war 2, peace memorial.

It was quite an emotional visit for us to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial. The mood inside is very somber and solemn and the exhibits can be extremely disturbing for some. But maybe this is a place everyone should visit at least once if given the chance not just to see the many memorials and exhibits, but also to be inspired by the resilience of people, specifically the Japanese people. It teaches us about hope and courage and also reminds us that collectively we can overcome even the worst imaginable and rebuild for a hopeful future. If you have visited the museum, how did it make you feel?
