Would a UK citizan require travel insurance when entering Thailand also?
I was going to go on a visa run via Cambodia soon, but won't bother if they demand travel insurance to let me back in.
Terrible turn of events for the New Year tourism, Phil. This combined with a resurgent Baht, ridiculously over priced airfares, super inflation, huge global recession coming and now this nonsense, nothing short of medical tyranny.
You know where I stand and my opinions on vaccines and their effects and protection (lack of). This is all about control and social obedience.

Even before Covid, Chinese tourists, especially those in tour groups following people waving flags were messing up Thai airports, completely flooding places like Suvarnabhumi and Don Meuang. If they are going to be let in again en masse soon, I am going to rethink my plans of returning to Thai over the next six months. Life is too short.
Temporary measures for Chinese New Year finishing 31 Jan. Thailand said it wasnt going to discriminate against Chinese so 1 rule for everyone. If no major changes in infection levels all good to go. Bahts strong pound is weakening, cost of living (inflation over10%) through the roof.

I live and work in China and I plan on coming next weekend.. need to show my double vaccination and have my health insurance sorted!! All the there are Su strains of omicron that have been all over the place 😢
I am canceling my trip scheduled for May as Thailand will change the rules last minute and I cannot stand these Chinese people from China who are so rude and don’t respect Thailand temples and other people making a mess out of everything, I was staying at the Narai hotel in Silom and in the buffet line and one of them actually stuck her hand in the food and tasted each entree’s and were verbally loud so disgusting
OK, so anybody who is not double vaccinated and has a holiday planned to Thailand, now has to cancel all the hotels, flights etc. – just because the Thai junta don't want to cause the Chinese Communist Party to lose face. Looks like hundreds of tourist sector Thais will be moving into shop doorways again soon……
Was planning a trip in May but will hold off for a while now … Undoubtedly there will be a dramatic increase in cases, so let's just see how the Thai government reacts ?
A quick Google search shows Chinese tourists spent 543.71 billion baht in Thailand in 2019.Certainly more than western cheap charlies,lol!

Return of the gimp? Unfortunate news for businesses in Thailand. I really hope not too many people cancel their planned trips. No reason to cancel. I'm still coming in just over a week. Let's hope we have a really good Songkhran this year!

Lot of Chinese bashing, I take fighters there and some of best on planet , I promise this it’s because of more money full stop , Thailand makes more out of Chinese then farang, yes I see the tour groups that only benefit Chinese, ( kept in Chinese community, restaurants bars u name it ) but I also see thousands of dead beat farang , I meen bottom of the barrel, Thais are Asian for the quick on here , why u lot think farang are number 1 is beyond me , as any Thai girl number 1 bad , they say aust then poms ,

Thanks Phil. No communication from the airlines as yet, so I'm grateful to see the updates direct from Pattaya. I'm flying tomorrow so thankfully have my Covid pass downloaded ready for departure. Will be interesting to see how strict they are, and whether they enforce mask wearing on the flight too.

The Thai baht is a concern, the euro went from 36.8 to 35.6 over night on Friday. It's gone down about 40-50% in the last 10 years. You would think to help their tourism recovery they would weaken the baht. TIT mentality is to do the opposite

What about this as a punt:-
1) Thailand has been one of the worst economically effected countries by the loss of Chinese tourists.
2). Thailand is and always has been the source of lots of "black money" lots of money laundering.
3). There is a definite attempt globally to stop the black ecomomy/money laundering. Hence a move to.CBDC.
4). Thailand as far as I am aware, is the ONLY country to administer such wide spread and complete restrictions/requirements on foreign tourists entering.

Yes, these sorts of videos are "gold" for those of us who've called Thailand home at one point in time or another in our lives. Even if it was for just 2 weeks at a time. 🙂

Just a tip for pensioners, retired folks. At arrivals immigration go to far right, sign says old people and pregnant ladies this way. There's three desks there and you can avoid huge crowds. Should be back in May been vaccinated and have insurance.
Are there covid vac checks when you enter by boat/land from Malaysia? Or only incoming by plane
I had heard from other tubers that the vaccine requirement had been removed. Why reinstate it? According to Ivisa no covid vaccine required as of 8 January 2023
