A calm and quiet day in the little village of Obuse south of Nagano: famous for sake and chestnuts. Not many foreigners here, which always pleases us. We sample locals wines, liquors and sakes, have an intriguing lunch in a shack, head out to some temples, grab some chestnut ice cream and then attack the sake again.

We consumed:
Wines, liquors at Alex’s Country Store and St Cousair Winery
Sake at Masuichi-Ichimura Brewery
Ramen at Nagano Donabe Takesan
Chestnut ice cream at Obuse-an

A charming little place and well worth a visit if you’re in the Nagano area or in Kanazawa.
