** Fushimi Inari

Train: Inari Train Station

If you are coming down to Kyoto, you’ll know why this is amongst the top most visited spot by tourist every day, every month and every year.

Famous for its thousand gates Fushimi Inari is the most important of several thousands of shrines dedicated to Inari, the Shinto god of rice. Foxes are thought to be Inari’s messengers, resulting in many fox statues across the shrine grounds. First and foremost, Inari is the god of rice, but merchants and manufacturers have traditionally worshiped Inari as the patron of business. Each of the torii at Fushimi Inari Taisha has been donated by a Japanese businesses

My recommended Itinerary for coming down to Fushimi Inari
– Wake up at 5am
– Leave hotel / Airbnb / motel by 5.30
– Get there by 6am (Train / Bicycle / etc)
– Head uphill to get your picture / video
– Once you are done head up again to explore the mountain top

**Warning its quite a hike, there is a halfway point where its pretty high up and decent **

But if you got the time, knock yourself up  – if you do my itinerary on this video including a pit stop at the coffee place (9am you will be down at the base of Fushimi Inari Shrine Again)

** Vermillion CafΓ©
https://www.vermillioncafe.com/

The name itself is inspired by the colour of the Torii gates of fushimi inari, in Fushimi Inari there is two vermillion cafΓ©.
The one I tried is halfway down the Fushimi Inari shrine, there is another near the station (but I would guess it would be a lot more crowded down there)

Okay what I like about this coffee shop is the fact that the owner took its concept from the laneways and alleyway of the city of Melbourne, Australia.

And if you don’t know it, Australian are into their coffee!
Vermillion CafΓ© uses local Kyoto Beans to make their Coffee, absolutely amazing and after your 6am workout up and down the shrine, it will be worth making a pit-stop down here and support their local business as well.

  1. Yay another new video! πŸ˜€ Wow, what time did you got up if you're there at 6:30am?? Really amazing footages and great video! Always liked your vlogging style! πŸ˜€

  2. It would be a lot cooler walking up that early too. When we did it was a bit later in the day and it was pretty hot. It seemed like the stairs were never ending, but we made it to the top πŸ˜€. It really felt like quite an achievement.

  3. Nick, what a video my man. Well Done!! Very crafty edits, like the coffee shop, mixed well with your soundtrack. I appreciate the persecutive clip between 6:30am and 9am. Fantastic B-Role and Stellar Narration. Many Thanx!!

  5. Very nice shootings, it is a pleasure for me to see such a nice video and to see back some views of Kyoto. I was there several years ago and I definitely miss Japan and its culture

  6. i have to agree, getting there early to avoid the crowds. I went at 6am once and 10am another, it was absolutely packed when I was there at 10. I never got a chance to walk through the entire thing so it was great to see it in your video! Great work!

  10. I wish we had the ability to get up that early! When we got there in the middle of Golden Week, we legit thought we were in the centre of the mosh pit at a Justin Bieber concert.

  11. Great tips, I'm going to Japan in a month so I'll definitely be getting up early like you (even though I'm not a morning person haha)
