In Japan, there are several ways for keeping your healthy wellbeing. Onsen; hot springs is one of major ways of wellness selfcare in Japan.

OK, Let’s walk in. check in and proceed the hallway.
and you can see the gorgeous stairs. this is one of highlights of this archtecture.

This archtecture “Ryuguden” was built in 1938 in Hamanako which is 180km away from here. It was originally a very expensive hotel. That is why it is so decorative.

Now, we can enjoy this archtecture as day use onsen. from the bathroom, you are greeted by the spectacular view of Mt.Fuji. this is a very rare place where you can appreciarte both onsen and Mt.fuji.

In 1957, the building was replaced here and used as hotel especially for the foreigners until 2011, when the earth quake hit. The buiding was aging and the owner decided to shutdown. In 2017, seismic construction and renovation was completed, and the building was back in business. the exterior design was inspired by “byodoin” in Kyoto. In 2017 the architecture was made a National registered tangible cultural property.

Center part has 2 floors, and the side wings have 3 floors which are observatories. Look at the impressive artisan work; very characteristic of meticulous japanese hand crafting.

behind the building, there is a small shrine named “the god of the mountains”.

Hakone is a special place you can uplift your wellness with onsen and experience a little bit of mysticness at the shrine.
