WELCOME to a Shanghai Flyer flight review; to my subscribers out there, a warm welcome back!

This is my first ever review onboard Japan Airlines, a Skytrax five star airlines of 2019. I was flying on a two hours service from Shanghai PuDong to Tokyo Narita onboard JAL’s Boeing 787-8 aircraft in economy class, allegedly the world’s best economy product per Skytrax.

As much as I love the Japanese hospitality from the crew, the catering was certainly a let down. Nevertheless, considering the relative short length of the flight, JAL is definitely still on par with their rival ANA in terms of hard product and crew service. If I disregard my status, I would most likely chose between ANA and JAL based on price and timing of the flight as I do not perceive a meaningful difference between the two on intra Asia flights.

  1. I agree and flew all classes on NH JL and KE regularly from DLC to Japan and Korea and they are all excellent and service driven airlines from check in to baggage services and now fly Y and W from SYD on daylight services as safe and pleasant experiences. I like it that these 3 carriers keep upgrading to a minimum and D:C flights in J less than half full always.

  2. Love the vision and sound on take off…magnificent !! Another solid review of an excellent airline. Well done as always!!

  3. Have you flown on other 787s? If so does the 8-abreast economy seat feel more comfortable than the 9-abreast most airlines use? Theoretically they should be about two inches wider
