Welcome to Petrópolis, Brazil! This is the Imperial City, known for its royal history and located only an hour and a half from Rio De Janeiro. In fact, this city is the former retreat of Brazil’s royal family.
We visit the Imperial Museum, a neoclassical palace that was once the residence of Emperor Pedro II. Dom Pedro II ruled for 49 years and, in at least forty summers, he remained in Petrópolis to escape the Rio De Janeiro heat. We tour grounds and gardens of the palace.
Next we visit the Cathedral of Petrópolis, a Gothic Revival cathedral that dominates the skyline.
We finish the day at the Bauernfest (Festival of the German Settlers) a German heritage festival complete with German sausage, beer, and music held here every June. Petrópolis has a large German heritage population and much of the architecture is reminiscent of Germany.
Next, we visit Cervejaria Bohemia (Bohemia Brewery), the oldest brewery in Brazil established in 1853. We taste the different types of beers and join the interactive journey through the evolution of beer through the ages. Prost!

There are no German cities in Brazil. Everyone in Brazil (as with the United States and other colonized countries) is a descendant of Germans, but that does not mean that Brazilian cities are German. If so, the cities of the United States are English cities.
Petrópolis is known as the Imperial city where one of the Imperial family's palace is located and which today is the imperial museum. If you can visit Gramado and Canelas, Campos do Jordão

Why foreigners try speaking Portuguese but actually speak Spanish instead!? It's the same as going to Germany and trying to speak German and speak English instead.
