Nabegataki is one of Japan’s most beautiful waterfalls – 10m high and 20m wide. And still secret from the growing tourist crowds.

Nabegataki Falls is over 90,000 years old and was created by a massive eruption of Mt Aso, one of Japan’s most famous live volcanoes. One of the most striking features of Nabegataki is that you can actually walk behind the falls. Japanese call it Uraminotaki (裏見の滝), and it is quite rare.
There is no train access to Nabegataki Falls – access is by far easiest by car.
