Hiroshima Castle is a beautiful rebuild of the original design made of a concrete structure covered in traditional Japanese tiles, wood, and plaster. The castle was first built by the Samurai lord Mori Terumoto who chose its location near what used to be Hiroshima bay & river to sea access. In post-feudal times, from the Meiji era, it was used as a military headquarters. In the 1945 nuclear attack on Hiroshima city, everything but the foundation was destroyed.
In this walk, we visit the amazing A-bomb survivor trees at the castle, see the castle and the ruins of the old military facilities, see Gokoku shrine in all its NY glory and finish with a view from the outside moat.

Sustainability is the way we strive to create a better balance between the needs of people for a high quality of life, while protecting, maintaining and regenerating a safe and healthy environment, in balance with building a strong economy that is ethical and has a long-term view of success to support people far into the future.
In short: sustainability = people-planet-profits in balance.
