Locating south of Kyushu Province, Yakushima is an island with a great nature.
– A popular island to travel. Especially for Japanese tourists.
– Visitor can reach via ferries or in the air. High speed ferry is fast and comfortable.
– Travelers normally utilize buses running along the coast of Yakushima.
– Yakushima contains great nature sites such as high mountains,forests, waterfalls and hot springs. Especially, moss-covered cedar forests are well-known through various media.
– Monkeys, deers in nature also attract visitors. And spawn of sea turtles, too.
– It rains a lot on the island and the good weather is important to travel high areas.
– Except a few towns such as Miyanoura and Anbo, Most residential areas are little villages. Onoaida is one little village and has an old hot spring.
– To go to famous tourist sites, travelers take the early bus having lunch boxes with them.
– Arakawa Trail is one of popular mountain trails to see the nature of Yakushima in the forest. Many visitors are joining with local guides to hear explanations. Some even carry camping gears to stay overnight. Many old and large tree stumps appear during the trail.
– A cedar tree over 1000 years old is called as Yakusugi(屋久杉). There are Yakusugi trees mostly with signs on the island. Jomonsugi(縄文杉) is the oldest cedar tree in Japan. It is estimated to be 2,000 ~ 7,200 years old. It’s not the largest tree of Japan, though.
– Shiratani Unsuikyo Gorge is famous for the location of the animation ‘Mononoke Hime’. Another place to see amazing moss and cedar trees. The view from Taikoiwa Rock at the end is nice as well.
– The entrance of Shiratani Unsuikyo is locating on a high mountain. People without cars wait until the bus time.
– Even during March, snow can be observed in Mountain areas.
– Oko-no-Taki is at the last stop of the bus. Visitors can access and watch it closely.
– West of the island is good to watch the beautiful sunset. Inakahama Beach is one of the famous points.
– Hirauchikaichu Onsen is the incredible seaside hot spring available during the low tide.

일본 규슈(큐슈)지방 가고시마현 구마게군 야쿠시마 여행.
규슈 남단에 위치한 야쿠시마는 빼어난 자연경관을 경험할 수 있는 곳으로 알려져있다.
– 일본의 수많은 여행지들 중 유독 일본인들에게 인기가 많은 곳이다.
– 페리 또는 항공편으로 상륙이 가능한데, 고속선이 빠르고 편안하다.
– 섬 내에서 여행객들은 주로 해안가를 따라 이동하는 버스를 이용한다.
– 높은 산, 숲, 계곡, 폭포, 온천 등이 인기있다. 특히 이끼로 덮힌 삼나무 산책로가 미디어를 통해 잘 알려져있다.
– 미야노우라와 안보를 제외하면 대부분의 주민들은 작은 마을에서 산다. 그 중에서 오노아이다는 오래된 온천이 있는 마을이다.
– 인기 산책로를 가기 위해서 여행자들은 도시락을 챙겨 새벽 버스를 타고 입구로 향하는 편이다.
– 아라카와등산로는 가장 인기있는 코스 중의 하나로, 다양한 삼나무, 이끼, 폭포 등을 감상할 수 있다. 일부는 야영을 하거나 가이드투어를 하기도 한다.
– 1000년 이상된 삼나무를 야쿠스기라고 부르는데 이들은 대개 안내표지판으로 소개가 되어 있으며, 그 중에서도 수령이 2000~7200년으로 추정되는 조몬스기는 일본에서 가장 오래된 나무로 알려져 있다. 다만, 일본에서 가장 큰 나무는 아니다.
– 시라타니운스이쿄 협곡은 애니메이션 ‘모노노케히메’의 배경으로 유명하며 이끼와 삼나무를 구경할 수 있는 또다른 명소이다. 코스 끝의 타이코이와 바위에서 내려다 보는 경치가 아주 좋다.
– 시라타니운스이쿄의 입구는 높은 산 위에 위치해 있어 차가 없는 사람들은 버스시간까지 오래 기다리기도 하는 편이다.
– 3월에도 높은 산에는 눈이 남아있는 곳이 있다.
– 오코노타키는 버스의 마지막 정류소에 위치해있으며 가까이서 감상할 수 있을 만큼 접근이 가능하다.
– 섬의 서쪽은 아름다운 일몰을 느낄 수 있으며, 그 중에서 이나카하마 해변이 명소.
– 히라우치카이추 온센은 간조시에 즐길 수 있는 바닷가 온천이다. 또 다른 해변 온천으로는 유도마리 온센이 있다.
