Since today is the first day of New year(2023), we are going to Asakusa to see the “Hatsumode”, a traditional Japanese New Year’s custom.
Hatsumode means New Year’s visit of shirines and temples.
In Japan, many people visit shrines on January 1st, 2nd or 3rd (Sanganichi in Japanese) to pay their respects and also wish him health and happiness for the year ahead.
Therefore, the shrine will be very crowded for three days.
I hope you experience the Japanese New Year while walking around Asakusa, famous for its Kaminarimon and Senso-ji temples.
