Today we will continue our walking tour of the Old Town of Prague and its streets. Fantastic, warm weather is conducive to walks. We will move from the Smetana Embankment towards Wenceslas Square!
00:00 The Smetana Embankment (Smetanovo nábřeží) in the Old Town of Prague runs along the right bank of the Vltava from the Legion Bridge to Charles Bridge. It is named after the world-famous Czech composer Bedřich Smetana, who had a music school here in the Lažanský Palace from 1868–to 1869. The Smetana Embankment was built between 1841-and 1845; it was initially called Old Town Embankment, later, in 1894, it was renamed Františe Embankment, and from 1919 it was called Masaryk Embankment. During World War II, it held two names; between 1940 and 1942, it was the Vltava Embankment, and then from 1942 to 1945, Reinhard Heydrich Ufer. It had the name of the first president of Czechoslovakia, T.G. Masaryk, again after the war, and later it got its current name – Smetana Embankment. Named after Bedřich Smetana, a prolific and distinguished Czech composer, the embankment is an ideal area for strolls, relaxing, and sunbathing and boasts a magnificent view of Prague Castle, especially in the morning or evening when the sun is low. At night this area becomes alive with clubbing as the endless bars and clubs open up to locals and tourists. You won’t regret going out and spending the night dancing in one of the famous clubs.

06:15 Bethlehem Square (Betlémské náměstí) is the heart of the best-preserved part of the Old Town. It lies outside the main tourist routes and in a labyrinth of streets and side streets, such that usually, only those looking for it can find it. The Square was founded most peculiarly, albeit typical for a historical town: the demolition of the Church of Saints Philip and James with the adjoining cemetery, whose area determined the space and size of today’s Square. The dominant feature of the Square is the Betlémská Chapel, a stark reminder of the figure of the preacher and Rector of Prague University, Master Jan Hus. He was burned in 1415 at stake for his radical ideas on reformation following the Council of Constance. This is also where the foundations of revolt by his followers were laid. It became the epicenter of the violent response to his martyrdom, culminating in what came to be known in European history as the Hussite wars. During these wars, the Czech rebels repeatedly and successfully repel the crusaders.

11:35 Národní, formerly Národní třída, is one of the critical avenues in Prague, Czech Republic. It is placed on the boundary of New Town and Old Town, in the southwest direction from the city’s center. This avenue connects the Legion Bridge bridge with Jungmannovo náměstí. In medieval times, there were fortification walls. On Friday, 17 November 1989, riot police violently suppressed a peaceful student demonstration, which is thought of as the initiation of the Velvet Revolution. Národní třída continued to be an eventful locale during the rest of the revolution.

Many historical events occurred there, and it is a traditional setting for demonstrations, celebrations, and other public gatherings. It is also the place with the heaviest pedestrian traffic in the country. The Square is named after Saint Wenceslas, the patron saint of Bohemia. It is part of the historical center of Prague, a World Heritage Site.

19:35 Na příkopě (“On the moat”), informally also Na Příkopě, Na Příkopech or Příkopy, is a street in the center of Prague, Czech Republic, connecting Wenceslas Square with the Republic Square. It separates the Old Town from the New Town. It is a place of representative buildings, including the headquarters of the Czech National Bank, old palaces, and luxurious shops. a Příkopě street leads to the site of a former 10-meter-wide and 8-meter-deep moat from 1234, which led along the medieval walls of the Old Town. After flowing directly from the Vltava river, the Old Town formed a closed island when the moat was filled. T e moat was covered in 1760. A ter coating, chestnut trees were planted here, and the street was named Ve starých alejích (In old alleys). F om 1845-to 70, the street was named Kolowratská třída, and since 1871 bears the name Na Příkopě.

Looks so stunning, picturesque and beautiful. Literally straight out from a fairly tale book.
It's a kind of magic
It's a kind of magic
A kind of magic (No way)
One dream, one soul
One prize, one goal
One golden glance of what should be
It's a kind of magic
One shaft of light that shows the way
No mortal man can win this day
It's a kind of magic
The bell that rings inside your mind
Is challenging the doors of time
It's a kind of magic
The waiting seems eternity
The day will dawn of sanity (Ooh ooh ooh ooh)
Is this a kind of magic?
It's a kind of magic
There can be only one
This rage that lasts a thousand years
Will soon be done
This flame that burns inside of me
I'm hearing secret harmonies
It's a kind of magic
The bell that rings inside your mind
Is challenging the doors of time
It's a kind of magic
It's a kind of magic
This rage that lasts a thousand years
Will soon be, will soon be, will soon be done
This is (this is) a kind (a kind) of magic (yeah)
There can be only one (one, one, one)
This rage that lasts a thousand years
Will soon be done (done)
Magic (it's a kind of magic)
It's a kind of magic
Magic magic magic (magic)
It's a kind of magic
