Today our walking tour in Prague will go through the back streets; we will move from the Coal Market towards Wenceslas Square in an unusual way.
One of the ancient Old Town squares is the Coal Market (Uhelný trh), which got its name after the house, which had been standing in the middle of the market from away back to the beginning of the 19th century and in which there were a blacksmith’s shop and miner’s house, where the charcoal was sold since 14th century.

Wenceslas Square (Václavské náměstà or colloquially Václavák) is one of the main city squares and the center of the business and cultural communities in the New Town of Prague, Czech Republic. Many historical events occurred there, and it is a traditional setting for demonstrations, celebrations, and other public gatherings. It is also the place with the heaviest pedestrian traffic in the country. The Square is named after Saint Wenceslas, the patron saint of Bohemia. It is part of the historical center of Prague, a World Heritage Site.
