So far – Sailing from Colombia to the ABC islands, 5 days at sea

What started as casual video recordings here and there, turned into an hour and a half long movie about our passage from Cartagena in Colombia to the island nation of Aruba (one of the ABC islands). The 5 day sailing trip started so peacefully and that trip had been in the planning for so long, that filming turned out as a fun activity. The last 2 days to Aruba were pretty rough and filming wasn’t as easy, but we are glad to have captured the different moods along the way: enjoying our slow life onboard, avoiding thunderstorms and rain squalls, sailing, motoring, admiring the landscape, dealing with strong current and bracing ourselves for the last 36H, before seeing our plans changed by the Aruban coast guards…

Quite an adventure indeed. But most of all, since not so many people take on this passage (at least it’s been our experience), we hope that video can help others who try to find resources about reaching the ABCs from Colombia. Such videos from other cruisers have helped us greatly, so if we can return the favor to even one boat, that’d be worth it!

We named the movie ‘So Far’ as we say that very often. Because nothing is granted when you sail away, and that’s a good reminder for life in general.
