  1. I just wanted throw a couple extra thoughts out there: First, I realize that I picked some pretty ordinary, or comparatively speaking, tame, mediocre images, and I actually had a few others that I wanted to put in there but forgot about them because I shot so many, ah well, lol.
On that note however, I wanted to also mention, but forgot to do it in the video again…😕 that "Comparison is the thief of joy." This is one of my favorite quotes (by Twain) of all time, and I think it's more important now than ever, given how much time and energy we all invest into social media and caring what others think about us. I have a lot of friends and pros in this industry and I see all of their videos, social media feeds, and portfolios and sometimes it's a bit overwhelming to see all of their incredible works, and I start to think that mine is nowhere near that level, or where I want it to be, or that I'm a fraud or shouldn't be doing YouTube and photography because I'm not as good as them, but I have to realize that's my ego taking over, and my fear of rejection and so on, and those are primal parts inside all of us that we need to make a conscious effort to overcome, because that kind of thinking really will sap the happiness from your life. So while I did not have a particularly amazing or "banger" year for photography, I still got out there and had great trips and came home with awesome memories and these images will forever remind me of that, and to me, that's kind of all that matters. Hopefully someone will read this and it will resonate with you. Thanks again for sticking around and supporting the channel and Happy New Year!

  2. Thanks for sharing, Brent. Photography wise, I would say, you had a great year. All the crappy stuff seems to gang up on one sometimes. Here’s hoping 2023 turns out to be an all around good year. I could use one of those also. Take care now and enjoy what’s left of this year.👍👍

  3. Take care, hope get well soon and continue to take great photos, post on YouTube and inspire many people.

  4. Thanks so much for always sharing the awesome content and beautiful photos. Wishing you a speedy recovery and Happy New Year ✨🙏🤗👍🎊

  5. Best of luck in 2023, and I hope your shoulder heals properly.
I enjoy your videos immensely, and not every photo has to be perfect for people to enjoy. I personally loved that picture of the aspen tree and the next one of the winding road.
Best of luck to you and your family in the coming year and beyond.

  6. These images were all amazing!! Love the recap, you did great in 2022! I hope next year brings healing for your shoulder and I’ll be praying the doctors figure out the best plan for that. Here’s to a hopefully better 2023!

  7. Hopping your shoulder gets fixed quickly. This video was great. I am so jealous of seeing those lightning photos! Thunderstorms here in PA are always rain-wrapped. My favorites were the portrait of the coyote and your image of the six Sandhill Cranes in a line. The three White Sands photos in different light was also great. It's just recent years that I started watching landscape photographers from Europe. But in all honesty, I like your videos the best. Thanks for sharing!

  8. Actually, imo, the haze on the Orion nebula image adds value to it. Makes it stand out a bit more, especially that is a natural, not a fake effect.

  9. Love this… awesome images and inspiration from your enthusiastic delivery.. Hope you find some solution to your shoulder issue. Happy New Year

  10. How do you decide what to focus your energy on and how do you reach your goals when doing astro, wildlife, and landscape? I love cities, roads, trains, wildlife, landscape, the moon and street photography and i don't know how to give them all the proper attention. But I notice at least from the outside, you seem to do well at balancing the things you like to capture. I hope you have a great 2023 (according to your personal standards for what that means) and can grow your other instagram to the past main instagrams level.

  11. Thank you very much for the interesting review of the year. Many beautiful pictures. In particular, I find the pictures of thunderstorms impressive. From the photographic point of view it was not bad, in contrast to the personal events. I wish you all the best for the new year, especially health and hopefully a better shoulder.

  12. I enjoy your videos. Especially your lightning videos. Hope you get your shoulder situation sorted out. Sorry to hear about your dad.

  13. You failed to disappoint. Again. happy new year🎉hope you get your shoulder fixed. Will be watching for next vid👀

  14. Brent, you're too damn good at all of this–the photography, the videography, the talking head stuff–to be sidelined for long. I thank you for the hours of great content so far, and for taking us all along on your adventures. I've no doubt they will resume soon enough, and we'll definitely be here for that. A very happy and healing New Year to you and yours.

  15. I loved this video and I love your work! It's just soooooooo good! Thanks for blessing me today with your impressive body of work. Keep up the hard work!

  16. P.S. I somehow missed the video on your dad and I went back to try to find it but couldn't. Link?

  17. You really captured some nice images. Of the White Sands images, I would personally print them on one pano sheet as a vertical triptych like you displayed them in the video. I did something similar (horizontally) with three similarly themed photos I took a couple of years ago. It's the centerpiece of my living room wall.

  18. Brent you have some wonderful images from 2022. Keep doing what you love and hope you get that shoulder fixed. My favorite was the Sandhill Cranes…..Happy New Year….!!

  19. Thank you for the collection of your favorites for the year. 2022 wasn't a great photography year for me, but I'm not giving up. I hope you have a great 2023.

  20. Dear Brent,
    INDEED.
YOUR 'stoke level' not only came through, your stoke level IS intensified because your devotees, your faithful observers, empathize. Facing the force of changing tides in' 22, especially losing Dad, you persevere; you exhibit grit; you endure these forces. Highest compliments to you, leader of your family, AND outstanding contributor to happiness in us whom you inspire, and who admire and respect your passion for what you are called to excel in.

  21. Heal up and take it slow, you don’t want a setback along the way. Your feeling of insecurity about your talent can act as a great motivator to keep growing – so think of that as a positive characteristic. Love your work and your ‘common man’ approach to your tutorials…after all, your audience is just that working to improve our photo skills. Lastly, enjoying the experience behind the image is truly what makes it a memorable image, not just ‘nailing it’. Many people just don’t understand. Have a great 2023!

  22. Happy New Year to you, camera lady, and the family! Looking forward to what you’ll be showing us in 2023🎉

  23. I do love your enthusiasm. It’s one of the reasons I love your videos. Love your photos too. Here’s to 2023. Thank you for sharing your experiences.

  24. Extraordinary video Brent. From start to finish 👏 Bravo sir you inspire us with your work. I live in the UK and a very flat part of the UK. Being able to see what you see is truly amazing. So thanks again, ‘keep um coming’. Have a brilliant 2023. All the best to you and camera lady and I wish you well with your shoulder. Take care and keep taking great photographs. Phil AKA Keepclickingphotography

  25. Hi Brent hope that your shoulder gets better soon, sorry about your dad it will take a while to go through that I love your photo wish you that 2023 bring you health, happiness, enjoy your family, Happy New Year..

  26. Always an inspiration seeing your work. As a moon lover, The Cooks Peak moon shot literally brings me to tears. Hope you recover from your injury soon!

  27. this video reminded me of going to an Eagles concert a few years back. every time they played a song i would say that is my favorite. well every photo you put up, starting with the dual lighting i said that is my fave. but when you got to the "fluffy" coyote, that one was over the top. you could feel the moment, that to me, is what nature photography is all about , well done brent.

  28. Brent, art is not a zero-sum game. Beauty can and should be shared whenever it is captured. Your photography needs no comparison to anyone – it soars on its own. Thank you for sharing it on your great YouTube channel! And best to you on recovering your health.

  29. Another great video! 2023 will be a great year for you and your family. PMA all the way.

  30. Wishing u the best year and many blessings…..Wishing u all good fortune in this year and years to come….it's going to be a tuff one…but we got this🇺🇸🙏🤙

  31. Let´s get one thing clear right away – I can´t speak for everyone else but at least for me, what makes me come back and watch every single video you do is not only to see great images. We are here to follow you capturing the images, hearing your thoughts on photography, gear and everything else. In short – we are here for you! Don´t compare yourself to others. That being said, I do the same all the time 🤣
And regarding the loss of your dad, I think I´ve already commented on that but I just wanted to let you know that it is not supposed to be easy this soon. I lost my dad a few years ago and I still find myself wishing he was here. Of course I do! However, it gets better. The pain gets less sharp if that makes sense. I lost my mother when I was 19 and now almost 30 years later it´s obviously a lot easier to handle. Let it take time.
