Can’t wait Steve see you there
The Christmas Eve 2022 Special starts from the Love's Truck Stop in Milan, NM to I-40. Then East on I-40 thru Albuquerque, and Santa Rosa to Business I-40. Then East on Business I-40 thru Tucumcari back to I-40. Then back East on I-40 into Texas to the Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo, TX where we have a little tour around the site. Then back East on I-40 passing by Downtown Amarillo and into Oklahoma to the Love's Truck Stop in Erick, OK where Steve ends for the day.
Good to see Cadillac Ranch again. My son loved spray painting the cars.
Merry christmas Steve ! Kindest regards from Argentina!
This is the first stream to feature Texas since that state was added to American Truck Simulator. It ran from 7:58 UTC-7 to 18:29 UTC-6 (15:58 UTC+1 to 1:29 UTC+1 of Sunday), of which 10 minutes were buffered out; it starts in NWS Albuquerque (ABQ) county warning area and runs through the Arizona/New Mexico Plateau, Arizona/New Mexico Mountains, Southwestern Tablelands, High Plains and Central Great Plains. The first chapter is Love's (Milan, NM).
1:10: 8:00 UTC-7, 16:00 UTC+1.
8:06 (UTC-7, 16:06 UTC+1). Steve leaves the Love's near Milan, New Mexico at 15:44 elapsed time, he also mutes the stream between 13:57 (due to the "spacetime rift" this time stamp never occurs as the time at the top right corner) and 16:54 elapsed time.
15:40 elapsed time: 1st Depart Love's chapter.
55:36: Broken down truck, already detached from the trailer.
59:58: 9:00 UTC-7, 17:00 UTC+1.
1:00:19: Originally US 66 used what is now NM 6 to Los Lunas, and then went via Santa Fe, not rejoining its later (1937; part of it between Albuquerque and Moriarty was already present as US 470 and later US 366), straighter, better known route until 3:29:09.
1:05:25: Leaving Grants NM μSA, entering Albuquerque NM MSA.
1:15:19: Another broken down truck.
1:24:00: Albuquerque, NM chapter.
1:30:41: I-25 junction (Also US 85, which isn't recognized by NMDOT anymore, but they cannot ask AASHTO to cut it back due to TxDOT's insistence on signing their short section in El Paso). Known as the "Big I", it's the only four way, full-fledged freeway interchange in all of New Mexico.
1:45:16: Salida para Scissors.
1:48:33: Zuzax, perhaps the Neomexican version of Zzyzx 😆.
1:54:56: Leaving Albuquerque NM MSA, entering Santa Fe NM MSA.
1:59:33: 10:00 UTC-7, 18:00 UTC+1.
2:01:21: Leaving Santa Fe NM MSA, entering Albuquerque NM MSA again.
2:08:21: Fuel stop. Pilot near Moriarty (Strangely not a Love's, although there are none between the West side of Albuquerque and Tucumcari).
2:33:10: Depart Pilot chapter.
2:08:25: Fuel stop at Pilot (Moriarty, NM) chapter.
2:54:15: I-40 almost precisely divides US 285 in two halves. It's about the same distance North to Denver and South to Sanderson, Texas.
2:58:02: 11:00 UTC-7, 19:00 UTC+1.
3:14:06: Leaving Albuquerque NM MSA for good.
3:29:09: US 84 "North" (Should be West, it is signed "sideways" West/North of Fort Sumner).
3:44:10: Santa Rosa, NM chapter.
3:57:41: 12:00 UTC-7, 20:00 UTC+1.
4:31:28: Much like he did two years earlier (but coming out), Steve gives a tour of Tucumcari to the road crew before heading to the truck stop. Poor signal.
4:32:00: Tucumcari, NM chapter.
4:43:20: Coffee stop at Love's chapter.
4:43:21: Coffee stop. Love's near Tucumcari.
4:52:42: 13:00 UTC-7, 21:00 UTC+1.
4:55:30: 2nd Depart Love's chapter.
5:21:20: "Glenrio, New Mexico" This cross-border mislocation isn't as common as "Julesburg, Nebraska" or "Evanston, Utah", since Steve doesn't come this way often.
5:36:05: Entering Texas chapter.
5:36:06: Entering Texas, NWS Amarillo (AMA) county warning area and Hereford TX μSA. "Spacetime rift", we jump one hour ahead in time from Mountain Standard (UTC-7) to Central Standard (UTC-6) at 21:43 UTC+1 (i.e. Central Europe).
5:38:04: Leaving Hereford TX μSA, entering Amarillo TX MSA.
5:51:42: It is well known that Texas requires every freeway to have a set of frontage roads, even in the middle of nowhere. However, for some odd reason I-40's don't start at Glenrio, but rather here.
5:52:20: 15:00 UTC-6, 22:00 UTC+1. Steve skipped 2 p.m.
6:09:00: Vega, TX chapter. (To be continued)
6:34:12: 30 minute break. On the side of the frontage road on the West side of Amarillo (strangely he didn't go to the Love's).
6:52:05: 16:00 UTC-6, 23:00 UTC+1.
7:22:16: I-27 junction, its North end and only interchange with another Interstate. Just North of this point lies the strange four street arrangement for US 87 and US 287, this is due to the latter joining/leaving I-40 East.
7:22:41 to 7:29:54: US 287, the longest branch US Route (although calling it a "branch" is quite a stretch)
7:29:54: Leaving the current (as of this stream's date) extent of the American Truck Simulator map. This isn't expected to last long, because Oklahoma is next in line.
7:52:06: 17:00 UTC-6, 0:00 UTC+1. From this point on it was December 25 in my time zone. Merry Christmas!
7:57:05: Yet another broken down truck.
8:02:46: Leaving Amarillo TX MSA, entering Pampa TX μSA.
8:07:10: Leaving Pampa TX μSA.
8:08:43: Entering Pampa TX μSA again.
8:12:17: Leaving Pampa TX μSA again (However according to OSM we haven't really crossed the county line).
8:13:12: And yet another broken down truck.
8:14:18: Entering Pampa TX μSA yet again.
8:15:01: Leaving Pampa TX μSA yet again.
8:17:03: Entering Pampa TX μSA yet once again.
8:32:47: Finally leaving Pampa TX μSA for good.
8:38:43: If there weren't enough broken down trucks here's another. And another at 8:44:21. I wonder what is happening here, at least Steve is spared.
8:51:53: 18:00 UTC-6, 1:00 UTC+1 of Sunday.
9:01:10: Entering Oklahoma, NWS Norman/Oklahoma City (OUN) county warning area and Elk City OK μSA.
9:08:52: Love's near Erick. Steve stops for the night, he hosts a watch party afterwards.
