This day was a big ride day, starting from Shimanto and finishing in Uchiko. The route was enchanting as much as it was challenging, taking us through pristine forest roads alongside the great Shimanto river, and into the mountains where the historical town of Uchiko awaits. In total, we covered 120 km of distance and almost 1400 m of climbing.
The majestic views were certainly the most memorable part of the tour, especially the Shimanto river and it’s many chinkabashi, or submersible bridges. From there, we climbed through the small mountain areas of Kihoku before finally arriving in Uchiko after dark. A wonderful dinner was waiting for us at the traditional guesthouse where we lodged for the evening.
