Arashiyama Monkey Park Iwatayama in Kyoto is such an underrated attraction!
Located in Kyoto’s neighborhood of Arashiyama, the entrance is located past the iconic Togetsu-Kyo bridge. To reach the monkey park, you have to buy a 550 yen ticket and then hike about 20-30 minutes up Mt. Arashiyama.
Once you reach the top, you will have stunning views of the surrounding area of Kyoto. More importantly, you will be in the open area that is the home of 120 Japanese Macaques🐒 they are so cute and funny to watch- you can even feed them in the wild. This place is not like a zoo – the monkeys are semi-wild and able to roam freely, so it’s very ethical towards these fascinating animals
