It’s Adam Koralik here and today we’re traveling to Tokyo Japan! This continues our two week adventure, and the fourth of TEN episodes. This episode will have a heavy focus on what it’s like to be “gaijin” or foreign, in Japan. What you can potentially expect, and some tips that go with that. Plus, we’ll go explore and buy stuff.

  1. This time we join our Bearded Nerd as continues to wander around Japan checking out various stores and eateries. He also gives travel advice and what to do and how to get around the country. He returns to Yokosuka to get a better look at the harbor and talk about Japan/Western (American) country relations.

That Maple Cream Sand Cake made me smile, glad to hear it tasted as good as it look/sounded. It was disappointed that the Pumpkin Pudding didn't taste like the pie filling. But I'm sure it tasted fine.

  2. 3:40 that Hard-off music is BLASTIN'
27:10 A banana lassi turns into a mango lassi? A hot chocolate that is actually warm?

This flying and eating had quite the range of reflective conversations. Mistaken disability, testicle pain, senior homelessness, rail company structure, crime rates, us navy fleet exercises, US-Japan diplomatic relations, and border town shop dynamics.

  3. oh my gosh the splash mountain story! shout-out to the nice old lady for looking out, haha. enjoying the Japan trip videos looking forward to the next one!

  4. Alright so I did the math, and from my hotel in the Tokyo metro (Kawasaki) to the hotel I'm staying at in Osaka, then back to Haneda a week later, it's $221 combined. (converting the yen now). A three week JR pass is $441. Judging by my desire to travel around Tokyo, then Osaka/Kyoto, and maybe a day pilgrimage to other cities here or there.

The route Google suggests from Kawasaki to Osaka uses the Midosuji and Keikyu lines, which aren't even covered by the JR pass as is, so it probably isn't worth it for $441, especially since, as you said, I'd still have to pay out of pocket in towns.

  5. That splash mountain story sounded brutal, but damn that was funny. Really lives up to the name I guess. 🤣

  6. Adam, I absolutely love all your Japanese travel videos. Going to Japan is on my bucket list and even if I don't ever go watching your videos is entertaining and informative. The Japanese culture is extremely interesting. Obviously all the vending machines are awesome but the fact that you can get such high quality food for cheap at places like 711 is super awesome. There seems to be alot about the Japanese culture that us Americans should try and emulate. Awesome work my friend!

  7. I'm absolutely loving this Japan series. Thank you so much for it Adam!

There are two things I remember from previous videos that got me thinking.

-I recall a video from this channel, in some other location (perhaps in the U.S.), that you mentioned that it wasn't meant to be toured on foot. There was no sidewalks from a certain point and you were supposed to drive.

-A Japan video from your video game channel where you explained your pilgrimage to a Hard-Off up in a mountain which I would LOVE to do someday.

I walk A LOT. Insanely amounts, because I really enjoy it. How "on-foot friendly" is Japan?

  8. Adam, I love you man but if I see one more fast food or convenience store meal in this Japan series, I'm unsubbing.

  9. Oh man, Adam drops another flying and eating video but I haven't finished watching the wii u video yet.

  10. the last time i've flown was '98, and japan is probably the only place i would even consider getting on a plane again for.
but then i hear stories like that special needs one, and i don't know if i would take that as well as you.
i'd probably go "why do they hate me? they obviously don't want me here, i should leave". it would make me feel like shit.
anyway, loving these videos, as i knew i would 😉

  11. I took a meat science class in college, so I'm an armchair expert. Per your burger preparation, a lot of places don't ask for your preference because it's actually less safe to eat ground beef under 155 F. Steaks are a different story. Basically it has something to do with bacteria being mixed into the meat during processing.

  12. adam, you can now use an American Credit card to buy Suica on your smartphone.
