I picked up 31 new credits in 2022, and some were great, and others not so much. I picked out 8 winners and 6 losers, and I’m counting them down today.

I think they turned down the audio for Dr. Diabolical's Cliffhanger since you last went. I went this past weekend, and I couldn't hear it outside the Steampunk section. Still loud and clear on the ride, though. And yeah, the midcourse brake run slowed it down more than I remembered. Also with Tumbili, I had a similar experience on Batman the Ride. It felt like most of the flips were just halfway. Still fun, but short. At least the line wasn't long.
I personally preferred emperor over Dr diabolical, but I will agree the theming was non existent and I also felt a rattle in the valleys. That said, my head is super sensitive to the B&M rattle much more so than any other ride type for some reason.
Doin anythin for vid #500?
Tumbili is so bi polar. Sometimes you get 4-5 flips sometimes you get maybe a swing after the first flip.. They say the left has more whip but I never notice a difference with KD being my home park.
My two big winners out of my new credits are Pantheon at BGW & Lightning Rod at Dollywood.
Next year my sister and I are hitting SeaWorld Orlando… and don’t know if we’re going to hit BGTB, which is like an hour away… but I really want to!
Of those also new to me:
Agree on Dragon Flyer so much better than the kiddie hang and bang at KI.
Agree on Tumbuli I got more flips but all these are 1 and done for me and they are not that great rides.
Pantheon – this was great only complaint I had was it was down most of the day so I only got 1 ride.
Me wating for the airtimeThrills top 200 coaster’s
at 0:30 seconds I've seen that guy w/ the glasses at sfne multiple times 😳
Pantheon is just an incredibly fun ride that really does have a little bit of everything. With BGW being my home park I was honestly hoping it would be a world class top-tier coaster. I’m not quite sure I can say that it is, but so far as sheer, unbridled fun, Pantheon knocks it out of the park. I usually feel kind of awkward when a fellow formed/rider wants me to put my hands up because it often feels forced, but not on Pantheon. That ride makes me want to throw my hands up every single time.
My favorite new credits were Iron Gwazi, Velocicoaster and Orion.
I’d like to see a video on you ranking all the prototype coasters!
The general problem with the Zamperla Thunderbolts is the original was designed to fit in the footprint of a completely different kind of coaster and to avoid, you know, the risk of getting pelted by a baseball from the stadium next door.
my favorite and least favorite coasters of all time both come from my credits this year. Favorite being Outlaw Run and least favorite being Ice Breaker. the other big losers for me were Steel Eel and Wonder Woman Golden Lasso Coaster, and the other big winners were Time Traveler and Mako. As for Diabolical, it ended up basically right in the middle of my rankings. Totally unremarkable, slightly below average B&M.
I only got 8 new credits myself (literally only got to BGW, Kings Dominion, and Darien Lake this year so my summer was kind of lame. Of those 8 top winners are Pantheon, Verbolten, Twisted Timbers, and Invadr. Was kind of unimpressed by Griffon, Alpengeist (Afterburn at Carowinds trumps all other inverts), but both are still fun enough. My top 2 losers were Apollo's Chariot (Diamondback is the true king of B&M Hypers) and Loch Ness Monster (every Arrow Looper I ride just hurts too much, haven't found one I actually like yet). Next year I'll finally get to Dollywood so hoping I'll get some new favorites this year.
Man has Vekoma really grown throughout the years, and they have made a great coaster for Disney. And I will agree it's a lot of fun.
I rode Wonder Woman at Sux Flags Magic Mountain abd it had a lot of hype but i was shocked how rough and shakey it was I brought my little brother on it and he hated it. I was super disappointed
Buy or Sell: The Dynamic Attractions SFX Coaster Mission Ferrari will have terrible reliability compared to the Intamin Muliti-dimension Coasters such as Uncharted and the rumored Fast and Furious: Hollywood Drift
I loved Slinky Dog Dash 😔. I thought it was so well done and actually fairly intense for a kids coaster. But I agree with rockin roller coaster needing to be updated, although my 9 year old absolutely loved it lol. And I was MEGA disappointed with snow white's mine train. It got so much hype, but it was so freaking boring.
I was able to go on Slinky Dog Dash and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind this last summer. I enjoyed the one time I was able to ride Slinky Dog Dash. Would I wait 90+ minutes for it? Heck no (we snagged Lightning Lanes for it instead), but it is one of the better family coasters I had ever been on.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, on the other hand, is a jacked up Space Mountain. Everything about it is awesome. My sister and I rode it 3 times: once with Virtual Queue and twice with Lightning Lane (my parents decided not to ride it again, so they gave my sister and I their MagicBands so we could ride it a third time); and each time we got to listen to a different song (Disco Inferno, September, and I Ran were the three we rocked out to).
Of course we did revisit our familiar favorites, including The Barnstormer featuring The Great Goofini (which before 2022, the last time I rode it was back in 1999 when it was The Barnstormer at Goofy's Wiseacre Farm in the former Toontown Fair section of Magic Kingdom). Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is a fun family coaster, a good middle tier coaster between The Barnstormer and the monsters that are Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and like Slinky Dog Dash, not worth waiting 90+ minutes in line (I had only been on this ride twice and both times I rode it, I used Fastpass (in 2015) and Lightning Lane (in 2022)).
My winner this year is possibly the original Nemesis at Alton Towers. I had the oppotunity to ride this vintage B&M invert a few months before it is shut down for a multi-year revamp which will replace the track, banking and the signature roar. The ride certainly is really intense as the sign out front positioned itself to be. John Wardley uses the low height restrictions to the ride's fullest advantage and it seriously packed a punch with its low ground clearances, tight manuevers and 4 inversions that are taken at a faster pace than other B&M inverts. Like many other enthusiasts, I'm sad its going to lose its roar and possibly change some of its profling but I still think the original Nemesis is arguably the best coaster I have ridden this year.
For losers, I think the Big One at the Blackpool Pleasure Beach is massively overrated. For one, the profiling is atrocious the further back you sit (you can feel the jank the very moment the ride leaves the lift hill for the signature banked drop). It has little-to-no airtime throughout the ride. The elements are repetitve with banked curved hill after banked hill. The only thing I give the ride credit for is the views you can get, making it more of an observation ride.
I think Infusion at the same park deserved even worse credit for how abysmal it runs with the original SLC trains and horrendous profiling.
got to ride velocicoaster and hagrid's yesterday for the first time, and i'm debating whether the night ride i got (right after some light rain too) will vault velocicoaster to my new number one
Pantheon blew me away as well. Such an awesome ride. Elite imo. Its in my top 10 ahead of Fury.
Dragon flier is legit incredible, that being said I hate it’s only one train operations
Did you ride Drachen Fire at busch gardens williamsburg? just wanted to know because it is dead now.
