If you’re looking for a summer festival in Fukuoka with lots of fun activities and entertainment, then the Hojoya Hakozaki Festival is the event for you!
This festival is one of the 3 biggest summer festivals in Fukuoka along with the Hakata Dontaku Festival in spring and the Hakata Gion Yamakasa Festival in summer, and the event draws more than a million people annually, locally and from the region and it’s definitely a fun and exciting experience. There are lots of activities for kids to participate in, like catching goldfish, going in the bouncy room, can even fishing for eels and crabs, and winning catch prizes. If you’re looking for a place to have some fun during the beginning of fall, the Hojoya Hakozaki Festival is the event for you!
The Hojoya Festival is one of the biggest fall festivals in Fukuoka and all of Kyushu, it is held for seven days from September 12th to 18th every year. The walkway on which the festival is held extends 1km from the “Torii” gate all the way to the “Honden” (main hall) of Hakozaki-gu Shrine,. There are over 500 street stalls that have an endless supply of tasty traditional and regional local foods and snacks. Vibrant, loud, and the excitement that comes with this traditional fest.
🚨 The origin of this festival was based on a Shinto ritual at the shrine that goes back more than 1,000 years. It has been held in order to comfort the spirits of the all deceased and to express gratitude, as well as for business success and for the safety of the family.🚨
