Unlike most of Japan, the island of Hokkaido has a number of main railway lines that are still unnelectrified. So many long distance services are operated by Diesel Multiple Units.
These scenes are from November 2015. Since then, some of the Series 183 units have been removed from service and will exported to Thailand.

1208 hrs: Arrival Furico 281 series empty cars for 1229hrs Super Hakuto 7 to Sapporo
23 November 2015 – Shintoku Station
0859 hrs: Super Ozora #1, 0702hrs service from Sapporo to Kushiro departs Shintoku with a 7 car 283 series DMU
0927hrs: 6 car 261 series DMU led by set ST-1203 arrives at Shintoku with the 0848hrs Obihiro to Sapporo Super Tokashi #4
23 November 2015 – Minami-Chitose Station
1102 hrs: A 6 car 261 series DMU departs for Sapporo with the 0848hrs Super Tokachi 4 ex Obihiro for Sapporo
1117 hrs: Arrival & departure of 7 car 281 series DMU with the limited Express Super Hokuto #3 (0813hrs ex Hakodate to Sapporo)
1203 hrs: Super Azora #4, 0838hrs ex Kushiro arrives with a 6 car 283 series DMU.
24 November 2015 – Minami-Chitose Station
1048 hrs: DMU set 261-1205 arrives with the Super Tokachi #3, 0851hrs ex Sapporo to Obihiro
