In this Episode, we are heading over to my roots of when I began living in Japan in a small town called Tsuga in Chiba Prefecture.

During the summer season, many locals towns would gather together at the Japan Self Defense Force base of Camp Shimoshizu to celebrate in a Bon Odori festival.

This was one of the first times that I got to experience the festival culture in Japan and I was immediately hooked. This year, I was lucky to have a day off to head over to the festival in order to film after not visiting for a couple years.

Aside from the Bon Odori dance, there is also a fireworks display towards the end of the festival. Everyone can enter for free, and you can experience the kindness and welcoming nature of the locals out away from the major cities.

Do you have any festivals like this where you try to make it out every chance you get? Or any festivals you are fond of? Let me know in the comments down below!

*Special Note*

In this video, I focused a lot in trying to get as much footage as I could but I forgot to film myself more, or to script myself a little better. I seem to have rambled off quite a bit, which made the flow a little bit difficult to edit.

I also wanted to play around a bit with a few transitions and masking. I wanted to give off a feeling at the end as if you were experiencing being there with the music in the background. There are a total of three song that they played at the festival and are really fun to listen to.

At the end, I realized that even with a good mic and a dead cat cover, I still need to monitor the wind noise just in case.

Also, I am finally noticing the drawbacks of having such an old camera for filming (Canon 5D mk iii). Lack of Auto-focus and shooting at a higher frame rate really limits me in the type of shots that I can take.
