I wanted to fly in style to Na Trang after we dropped off those dreadful motorbikes. However, @baldandbankrupt and @BackpackerBen insisted on going by rail.

    It gets more and more obvious that I know very little about Vietnam. Quite amazing to see that a political system has such an impact on appearances, those Viet trains bear striking similarity to the Soviet-Russ trains, poorly maintained, dirty and probably smelly too ))

    Great job! I miss the whole traveling with strangers and getting to know them in the process. I traveled through Hue and Na Trang about this time of year back in 2007-08. Met some cool people and travel companions along the way as well. Man, many things have changed, while many things still seem the same! As they said when I was there "Same same, but Different." Na Trang has really grown up since I was there. I don't remember there being any buildings over 10 stories tall back then! The view of the room there is awesome! Good to know the prices for all the hotels are still fairly the same as when I was there and everything still seems super cheap as well. Looks like Lots of fun with a little bit of misery here & there, but that is just part of the joys of traveling backpack style!

    Vietnam is sooo over rated. They have absolutely no idea about how to treat Westerners. Thailand and Cambodia re so much better value. IMO
