ZIPair is selling seats NRT to LAX for $379 (US) 1 way – now because of this competing airlines are matching- UAL an AA – I saved 400 by booking sep. flights HND/LAX then LAX/ORD vs HND/ORD direct

  2. best choice i made was booking a flight for 2023 on jal for 750 while the country was still closed unknowing if the country would open up again soon.

  3. I just look for the date I want to go and pay the best price around that date. I can fly direct from my home town and it would cost me more money to travel to a different airport. As of June 23 I will have 2 companies flying from my airport so the sales have started already with return flights from as little as $700 AUD. My very 1st flight to Tokyo in 2016 was $250 AUD return as it was a promotion from the airline to see if they could fill the flights. Every flight since then the price has slowly increased. I had a flight booked for 2020 when COVID shut things down so I receive a voucher for that. I used that voucher plus more $’s for a 2021 flight thinking that things would be back to normal. I received another voucher for that cancelled flight and rebooked for March 2022 and had to pay extra again. Then I rebooked for October 2022 using the voucher and (you guessed it) had to pay extra again. My flight was 2 days short of the visa waiver, so that was cancelled and rebooked for March 2023 and yes another increase in the price. So this flight is now around the $2500 for 2 people return. But I don’t care because I will finally be able to see my beloved Japan for Sakura again ✈️🌸

  4. I had to pay a lot for my trip in May into June but luckily my work is giving unlimited overtime, so I did it. $1800 US dollars. Luckily, I have left over yen and it’s still weak compared to the USdollar and the hotels aren’t too expensive. ✈️

  5. All the best for Christmas and the new year Nathan! Thank you for all your hard work 😊 Here,s to 2023 🥂! Have a safe flight ✈️

  6. I bought premium economy for May 23 last August for 2100 CAD. Air Canada Toronto to Tokyo direct 12h flight. 2800 now.

  7. Before the pandemic, I could routinely land a flight for between 600-750 USD. Now, I'd be lucky if I could find 1,200 USD.

  8. Well, I hate to say it but this video just confirmed what my checks had led me to believe. What I used to pay was 1/4 (deal) to a 1/3 ( average fare) of what is available now. I was hoping fare would only double but 3 to 4 times more seem to be new standard for air fares. I'm not sure if they will drop anytime soon, with inflation starting to make everything cost more. I thought I had planed a generous budget, but now I may have to totally rethink my plans. Early next year may not be in the cards without major revisions. Since the flight is in two stages, I'm also worried about first stage delays and cancelations which is now a regular occurrence. Japanese yen may be weaker but so is Canadian dollar. Sometimes things just don't come together.

  9. Pre-pandemic we bought tickets for $700-$950 for tickets from Midwest USA to Haneda. This was also a route that Delta had a 10% discount on for children's seats. Right before the borders officially opened tickets were about $1100, jumping to $1400 after the opening went into effect. Within a couple months of the opening flights have shot up to $2000 a seat. All of these were economy to economy main on Delta and all for spring. It is also worth noting that the cheapest economy flights do not give back ecredits so most people will want to upgrade to main economy to secure at least some sense of reassurance if something unusual happens. This upgrade jumped from $100 to $200 per seat after the opening.

  10. In october I got tickets from Warsaw to Tokyo + Tokyo to Warsaw for ~6500PLN (~1500$). I will fly in 15-24 April (LOT arlines). Now tickets for April are around ~8500zł (~1950$). Fast booking was great decission… (^o^)/

  11. I found that flying with a layover rather than direct halved the price. I'm going in April from Brisbane Australia to Tokyo, flying via Singapore rather than direct with Qantas halved the price. Not as convenient, but saved $2K (AUD) per ticket! That will buy a lot of sushi and sake.

  12. ✈️ just came back from Japan. I was looking at tickets for the first half of next year but they’re ridiculously expensive. Maybe I’ll book a return ticket to Seoul and book a separate low cost carrier ticket to Japan

  13. My suggestion is plan ahead, be flexible with dates and start shopping early and regularly. Airlines randomly release low fares. Don’t try and predict the bottom – book if you find a good price as it may not last for much longer. Booked my next multi trip (Birmingham – Tokyo – Seoul – Birmingham) business class tickets with Air France in their new business class suite for just over £1700. Of course, not being close to the hub airport forces me to go with layover option which is naturally cheaper than direct e.g. BA.
