Check out the MtnRoo on Subaru’s Launch Control (link below)

9-19-2018: It’s been a long time since Grace and I have been one a primitive camping trip and we always wanted to return to Zion National park to hike the Narrows. After gathering a group of adventurers, we make our way to South West Utah. One of our friends that met with us is Gabriel from the MtnRoo who was also in the episode of Subaru’s Launch Control. He mentioned that he spectated a Rally Race, but I had no idea he was part of an episode of my favorite shows.

We spent much of the day hiking the Narrows and snoozing on the Zion tram. Dinner at the Zion Canyon Brewing Company was impressive. I never had a burger so tasty! Onion rings perfect! After a fun filled day in the National park we had to race the setting sun to our campsite, which was on top of a cliff of all places. It wasn’t until morning that we could truly appreciate the aww-inspiring view our camp had to offer. We lazed around until noon and then made our way to the toquerville falls. The road was rough… did my stock height Subaru make it? Watch the video to find out.

Donald with www.softroadingthewest.com. His latest video is an amazing production. His narration is great, and he has taken the time to include many action shots. Give this man a follow! Thank me later.

Gabriel, Liana, Vic and other people from the MTNROO made it on an episode of Subaru’s Lauch Control!!!!! Here’s the video!

  1. OMG, this episode is indeed EPIC! Loved the trail footage, looked plenty challenging to me. Such amazing spots you guys visited, it was nice to see the destinations and experiences in addition to the driving bits…really genuine and enjoyable story. I swear, one day I'm gonna get down there. That Toquerville Falls trek looks sooo fun.

Oh and you're far too kind, but thank you for the extensive shout-out, it's very much appreciated. 8^)

Informative and entertaining as always Jon! Looking forward to seeing your future adventures with the now-lifted Foz on the trails!

  2. Great video! Very informative and inspiring as always. Congrats on the lift! Mtn Roo needs a central California chapter! I have a question for you Jon actually two. One is X-mode and when are some good times to use it and when its better to leave it off. I've heard that in situations where you need more wheel spin like mud or sand it's best to leave it off. Also how much of a weak link is the CVT and do you see many issues with that on your adventures? With my old 79 Subaru wagon you could get it anywhere with the right line and a little momentum but I haven't pushed my 17 to those limits yet. Thanks for the insight looking forward to the next one. πŸ‘

  3. As always, great video. Thanks for all the work you put into these. I've learned so much from them. How do you like the lift kit for daily driving?

  4. Welcome to the ☝️LIFTED☝️ Forester XT club! πŸ™‹β€β™‚οΈ
    Great video!
Sucks about the GoPro though 😐

  5. Been waiting for your upload Jon.. was waiting to see your lift! Gotta hit up Nate for my Crosstrek lift soon !

  6. One of my wheeling buddies has a Forester and he runs every trail I do in my JK Rubicon. Those cars are amazing and im sold on them. Last weekend we attended the Notarubicon event the last bridge run. There was 141 jeeps and my buddies Subaru…The Jeep guys was amazed and that little Subaru was the main attraction.

  7. Man, I did not know a go pro could overheat, bummer! Looking forward to your trip vid with the added lift πŸ‘Œ

  8. Nice video I never knew there was a big group of Subaru enthusiasts here in LA hope I can make it to the next one!
Hey where can I get my outback lifted? Can you recommend please thank you!

  9. Good job inspiring, I will take my family on some of the local LA trails and camp in our Ascent. Thank you.

  10. yo- that 4th gen green outback- I need to know this guy's setup- suspension, wheels/offset, and tire size. Thanks!

  11. Awesome Video. I would love to know where that campsite was. Would you be willing to share it to me in some type of private message?

  12. Sick man. I’ve got a base height 2.5i but watching these videos makes me wanna trade mine for a β€˜18 XT. Lift possiiiiibly πŸ™‚

  13. Did you have any issues with the lift? Any downside to it? Extra wear and tear on the vehicle?

  14. thats one of the biggest worries for me with getting a suby, its that CVT, from most of the videos I've seen, it seems to rob them of their capabilities.

  15. Interesting to see the Narrows again in the video. Went there at the end of July before and it was a welcome location! Nice and cool water when it was scorching hot out (119f!). Some spots were a bit deep so you had to wade/swim through a bit. Thanks for sharing this video!
