Recently I’ve been feeling pretty homesick, and it’s not something I’ve personally been through before. It was really different than I thought it would be, and the things that helped were also not what I assumed they would be!
I wanted to talk about it because I think a lot of people (including me) feel guilty for feeling homesick, as though feeling that way somehow means you aren’t grateful enough for your new life, etc. I wanted to put it out there and share some things that help me when I’m feeling low, in case they help other people too. (:

Thank you for watching, and I’ll talk to you soon!

  1. Thanks for a very good video. It's so nice to know that you realize how lucky you are, and in turn to realize how lucky we are. You have such a good attitude about things.

  2. Thank you for sharing these tips 🙂 I'm moving to Austria in January for 4 months to teach English, so I'm fully expecting that homesickness will hit me at some point, being away from Ireland. I certainly won't be looking forward to it when it hits me, however, I think living in Austria will be a good life experience in learning how to manage and overcome homesickness.

  3. Another awesome video. Skype or Video call into a party and be passed around like a baby lol. I like to do art, that's my coping mechanism.

  4. Thanks for posting a nice video as usual. I was a bit surprised that even you, who seem a very positive person, got homesick. However, you are strong enough to analyse what your homesick is like, to find the reason why you feel depressed is homesick, to figure out how to deal with it, and to help others by telling these. What a wonderful person you are! I really respect you.

  5. Thank you for this great video. I am in Tel Aviv and despite loving this city I have just been crying and I think it's homesickness! I just feel out of sorts. It's great to hear you say it's not a failing and it's not my fault. I'd add one more tip – I hope this works – and that would be to make a point of doing the same things you enjoy in your home country, in your new country. E.g. I love to sing, to do yoga, to walk long city walks…. if I do these here, they help me reconnect with my true self, the part that is unaffected by where I am. Also tomorrow I am getting my hair cut as a bit of pampering may help!! But thanks for spurring me on!!!

  6. I live in Germany for over 2 years now (I grew up in Hungary) and this is my first time experiencing homesickness. Had to come home (Hungary) because I had a surgery and I usually stay 2 to 3 weeks whenever I visit, but because of the surgery I stayed a little over a month this time. I'm going back to Germany in about 4 hours and I just had to get some help (aka google is your best friend) because I'm feeling sooooo sad about leaving my family again. I feel really guilty about not being here for them anymore and I also have a little brother here who's growing up so fast so I feel like I'm missing out a lot. This video helped me so much you can't even imagine! So I just wanted to say thank you for making it!❤️ keep up the good work girl!😘
