This time I boarded the [West Express Ginga] from Shin-Osaka Station in Osaka Prefecture to Izumo City Station in Shimane Prefecture.
The West Express Galaxy is a night train that began service in 2020, and operates with a six-car train formation. West Express Ginga” has “Premium Room” of green private room, “First Seat” of green car, “Family Cabin” of compartment, “Couchette” of regular car, and “Reclining Seat”. In addition, there are free spaces in Cars 3, 4, and 6 that can be used by any passenger, and in Car 1, there is a free space that can only be used by passengers using the Green Car.
As of December 2022, it is not possible to take the West Express Galaxy train if you apply for it through a travel agency.
Since we were on a tour, we were welcomed by local people selling local products at the stops along the way. The tour also included a boxed lunch featuring local products from the area, which made for a very enjoyable trip.
I hope you enjoy this exciting trip on the West Express Ginga!
