Located less than 50km northeast of Osaka and easily accessible by public transport, Kyoto is one of Japan’s most visited city in the Kansai region.

Once the capital of Japan, Kyoto is also known for its Imperial palace, Buddhist temples, Shinto shrines, gardens and Geishas or Geikos in Kyoto dialect.

In this video we will be visiting Fushimi-Inari Taisha, a Shinto shrine dedicted to Inari, the Shinto god of rice, fertility, sake and merchants. Known as Sembon Torii or Shrine of Thousand Torii gates, Fushimi-Inari Taisha is the most important shinto shrine among all shinto shrines in Japan.

Immortalized in a number of movies including the “Memoirs of a Geisha”, these vermilion gates are actually offerings or donations of individuals or worshippers and companies revering Inari for favors of good fortune.
