Winter is about to arrive in dramatic style in Japan! Every year frigid winds sweeps off Siberia, over the warm Sea of Japan, picking up huge amounts of moisture which then falls as massive snow storms over mountainous Honshu and Hokkaido.

I shot these scenes over the last 5 years in Niigata prefecture – enjoy!

  2. Are you a huge snow lover like me? Have you ever experienced the crazy sea effect snow in Japan? If so let me know and if not then I hope we can welcome you someday to Japan to witness and enjoy this incredible spectacle of nature – James

  3. Выглядит красиво и зрелищно, в наших краях (Юг России) такого снега не бывает.

  4. This up in Hokkaido, mate? Was still sitting outside having balcony beers in a T-shirt on Sunday in Kyoto lol. PS: Just read the full thumbnail.

  5. I was stationed in the military andI have been in Japan when it snowed like that was amazing. A lot of the houses there are paper thin and I don't know how they stay warm when they get snow like that. 🥶

  6. I love how in Japan a low-pressure system in winter brings snow.
But in the US, they blast your house with tornadoes even in wintertime.
Also, hope you enjoy the snow while it last

  7. Partially in thanks to your videos from last winter I got the motivation to somehow make my way to Japan and it actually worked out
Now I'm just hoping that this winter will bring some good sea effect snow!
