An interesting day of exploring in Bali, Indonesia, in which I eat some good Indonesian food for lunch, then go on a quest to find the tallest statue in the country. I end the day by watching the sunset on beautiful Jimbaran Beach.

  1. I am kind of surprised by the beaches shown so far. Its not what I imagined or heard about.
In previous videos Kuta beach doesn`t look that great and its almost deserted as far as tourists go.
While Jimbaran Beach on first impression looked a lot better until I realised no one was swimming or sunbathing there. Some parts of the beach need a good clean up. It looked like there had been previous bonfires on the beach and that had blackened the sand. I guess the tourists have not come back in big numbers so far.

  2. Great tour of Bali gabriel..thanks for the hard work …to bring us these images…we watch ur videos during lunch…Geia sou from Toronto

  3. Fyi when that lady said she's from Mauritius she's an Indian ethnic person living in an island off the coast of Africa. Indians particularly Dravidians were sent to Mauritius as indentured laborers along with a small number of Chinese that mostly returned home. So it's not some special maurtian indigenous group off the coast of Africa which many of us were thinking live Fiji people etc. They are descendants of workers that British brought to this former colony. In central Africa many Indians were deported or left to the UK because the africans saw how in the indian culture especially the brahmin Hindu caste it is very strongly rooted in their religion that they have to be part of the ruling and elite class of any society whether it be in India or the UK or America. That's a fundamental aspect of the caste religion dynamics of brahmins. Of course for many of us in western societies it's a novel idea that goes against the idea of a classless and equal society. But that's a different case for Indians and it is this elitism I think is the antithesis of western values that we strive for. I'm from Canada and have spoken to many of my peers about this topic and indians as well.

  4. 11:30 I asked same question to a hotel receptionist – "are both these languages same same or different?". She said "more different" 😀 😀

  5. Originally the Balinese are very religious and kind of timid. They din't allow Muslim traders to rule over them. Feared by conversions in neighbour islands – they even refused any kind of changes / advancements and lived simple life. In 1929 when Charlie Chaplin visited and filmed some footage – we can see women without clothes in upper parts.. that's how original they were.

  6. I'm glad you walked back to the area with the interesting rock walls. When You were going past them on the shuttle I was saying "stop" . Get out there.

  7. the statue at 9:40 that you thought was Shiva was most likely Indra, an older god than vishnu and shiva given the title "devas" in india today. He is a rain god and usually depicted in his chariot, he seems to be fighting someone there, maybe the sun god surya?

  8. Witb the taxis at the airport, just walk out 100 metres out of the airport out on to the street and catch a Bluebird taxi on the meter and avoid the Airport rip off taxis. Also make sure you get a real Bluebird taxi, lots of fakes around.

  9. 9:30 maybe if they learn that closing borders to unvaccinated scares people away lol, only 9 countries in the world are closed right now, it's time to move on

  10. Bali not quite how I expected, really dislike the vendors always pestering you. It's cheap there but fell down my list of places to visit after seeing your great videos.

  11. interesting place, and low prices have a charm all their own. However, I sense if I were the there, I'd find the sales culture too much in my face. I suppose I might get used to it and find that saying no several times in an hour would toughen me up. Cheers!

  12. Well done Gabe! I'm glad you like it. While you're in Bali, try their most famous dishes: Babi Guling (a.k.a suckling pig). There's also a really unique destination: The Trunyan Village. It's the Skull Island of Bali. Enjoy… ✌

  13. Which one is the real Garuda? Is it that one, or that one ( appears less real) as its a simulacra of the bigger one etcetera.

  14. Garuda is actually the bird carrier for Vishnu. His ride.
In the trinity of Hindu Gods Brahma is the creator, His ride is a 4 headed elephant. Vishnu is the maintainer. Shiva is the destroyer of the worlds and his ride is the bull Nanda. You’ll see or you’ve seen these images all
over South and East Asia as the region was once Hindu, then Buddhist then Islamic in some parts. The huge statue of the Chariot you saw with the archer is from Mahabharata. The Kurukshetra war. Described in Bhagavad Gita. The chariot chariot driver is The God Krishna an expansion of Vishnu and the Archer is Arjuna, his devotee. It’s worth reading.

The National airline of Indonesia is called Garuda.

  15. As others have said Bluebird is the trusted cab company and don't forget Gojek and Grab for motorbike taxis

  16. For me Bali definately appeals more away from the touristy beach areas. Another great video, thank you

  17. That beer Singaraja is from a city in the north named Singaraja. Its close to Lovina and worth a look

  18. Thanks for the years of giving prices of things ., Even though you have upgraded your style of travel it really helps to see 1st hand what things cost . I’ve been traveling the world for almost 2 years now , I have relied on your videos for information, confidence and knowledge. Currently In Battambang Cambodia

  19. Resfreshed memories, I went there when Garuda construction was in progress, many Indian are unknown to the fact that it was constructed with support of TATA group of India.

  20. If you are interested in a place with Bali history try Bajra Sandhi Monument in Denpasar, not many tourist know about this place but is fantastic and beautiful views from the top

  21. I love Bali, hopefully I’ll be back for the 3rd time next year. BTW, You should check out Suwehan Beach in Nusa Penida. It’s an amazing beach worth a visit! Safe travel, Hati-hati di jalan!

  22. Interesting to see lots of Indonesians wearing no masks. Here in Thailand, 99% of the population still wear one even though haven't been required for about 6 months.

  23. Wow the balinese royal family can afford to build that huge statue but can't clean up the litter ruining bali……..
