The Schengen agreement is truly one of the most amazing (and sadly sometimes underappreciated) freedoms the EU gives us EU citizens. There are many freedoms, rights and privileges, but I think Schengen is sometimes taken too much for granted. Its amazing and I hope that my generation would add something similarly fantastic to the EU advantages in my lifetime.
Has anyone ever travelled from Eijsden to BΕeclav before? Probably not. At least not on this route. Well done! I'm deeply sorry that the only German city you have seen is SaarbrΓΌcken of all cities. At least it was dark… Your commentaries about Liechtenstein are hilarious! (3 Francs for a stamp. They really know how to make money!) Up until Innsbruck I would have assumed a route via the Brenner pass, Italy, Trieste, Slovenia and to the tip of Croatia. James Joyce would have appreciated that. Again it's been a pleasure to travel with you once more.
After living in Luxembourg for a couple of years now with lots of journeys to SaarbrΓΌcken, I have never considered going to the city at 3 am – let alone using a vel'oh bike for some sightseeing – thanks for the inspiration
As expected, absolutely exceptional video! Brilliantly edited, maps and music choice were perfect! Your route planning skill is pretty unmatched I think! Looking forward to more content!
Great content once again. I'll bet you had fun sorting out the logistics on that one. You did extremely well to adjust your itinerary so you could make it to so many countries. Well done.
These vlogs are so well researched and presented. After each one, I feel the urge to get travelling again. I used to love pouring over the Thomas Cook European trail timetables and planning trips like these. Fantastic, thank you.
Really fun idea, maybe in a few decades from now you'll be able to try this in the Balkans and improve your total. Were there any other possible routes that you considered?
You do well kind friend. Bastogne is pronounced as you say but if we get into American mispronunciation we'll be here until the Mozz Cows come home. Follow that rowt/rout/root/FFS
Another very enjoyable video – wonderful views, great commentary and insights, interesting concept (again!). You make for a very fine travelling companion, it is a joy to spend time on these videos. I am especially impressed by the amount of planning and research that obviously goes into making these films. Much appreciated and more please.
On the question of adjacent capital cities I think I'm correct in saying Kinshasa and Brazzaville are basically across the river Congo from each other. Montevideo and Buenos Aires must also be quite close to each other across the River Plate estuary.
Well, saarbrucken wasn't necessery, Rosenheim is a good interchange point from Austria to Germany and back to Austria, the Railjet just passes a loop outside the station.
I've done 3 in a day using foot and bus those being; Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Austria. There's a mountain called the Graafkop where the 3 meet and if you circle the trig point on the summit you'll have been in all 3!
Vienna and Bratislava count as the second-closest pair of capitals (outside the edge case you mentioned). Brazzaville and Kinshasa, on opposite banks of the Congo river, are closer.
Brilliant as usual! I take it the few trains stopping in Liechtenstein didn't time well? (Still nice to see, I haven't been back since a school exchange – at the time, my school was the only one to operate an exchange there. The French exchange to Strasbourg too – weird how they chose destinations where German and French are the second languages!) Also to Go West – you passed within a mile of my house! I was half thinking about something using the German β¬9 ticket (future β¬49 ticket) – perhaps NESW in a week… We'll see! Thanks for an entertaining journey to virtually travel along with!
I live between Metz and Nancy in France, have been to Luxembourg many times and SaarbrΓΌcken on a number of occasions too π I've also been on the Luxembourg-SaarbrΓΌcken express bus π So it was interesting to see that you went there! May I ask what equipment you use and the cost of it (I'm looking for a cheap camera to potentially film a future trip to Switzerland (yes, Switzerland!) in 2 weeks)?
My girlfriend likes to call the ObecnΓ dΕ―m in Prague her favorite "pretty house" and man do I have to agree with her. Such a grand and lovely iconic building, especially the secret street windows you can buy a cheeky hot winter drink or two from.
Actually, the train goes through flanders before entering wallonia due to there being a small disconnected strip of flanders on the south side of the limburg border called the "voerstreek". When you travel it by car it is a bit more obvious than by train due to the signage.
It's been a while since I've so enjoyed a YouTube video! I was in SaarbrΓΌcken a few weeks ago, but didn't find the time for the Saarbahn. I'm looking forward to your next video!
Casting time in Benelux – If you would start in BΕeclav, CZ – you cloud go then through Vienna,AT – Bratislava, SK, Budapest, HU – Zagreb, HR – Sarajevo, BiH ……. And end up in Athens, GR
Absolutely magical! I loved every minute and have downloaded so itβs always available. Will re-watch, make copious notes, and set off the same or similar trip in the new year, although not necessarily as a challenge. Thanks for the great video and adventure; I look forward to watching your back catalogue and await further output with interest.
Iβm being repetitive but once again compliments for the video. A very nice idea. I remember watching your video from the uk to Sicily, and luckily YouTube recommended me this new video. Subscribed & thumbed the video up, hopes you can get as many views as possible.

Awesome journey, especially cycling in the early hours and so good to meet Mrs Turtle. Here's to the next trip!
Thanks a lot! Wonderful historical commentary. And great to see places like Luxembourg or Bratislava, a bit off the charts.

This is the classy version of Jet Lag: The Game.
Great content once again. I'll bet you had fun sorting out the logistics on that one. You did extremely well to adjust your itinerary so you could make it to so many countries. Well done.
Excellent video with a great commentary. I look forward to your next epic journey.
You keep passing my corner of Europe on your videos and reminding me not to get complacent and explore more of my neighbourhood! π

I'm going to say 80 countries in a day. What do i win? π
subscribe done.

This was incredible, Iβd love to do something like it. Really well done, 10 countries in 1 day is still far more than most people will ever achieve!

As they say at the end of Bond films: Slow Travel Turtle will return.

lovely video!

Maastricht is such a lovely town. And if I had to spend six hours on a train, we can do much worse than a Railjet.
This was such a fantastic journey – thanks for bringing us along!

brilliant trip.
What a fantastic and most interesting vlog. Well done
This appeared in my YouTube recommendations and I'm glad I watched it. Will now watch your other videos.

A calm and soothing video for what I expected to be a very hectic experience. Goes against the entire Youtube ethos but very enjoyable nonetheless.
Another brilliant video! What a gem of a channel.

Great video thank for the Maastricht bits not been there yet by train
Great journey! With a bit more luck and some improvements in international public transport, Italy and Hungary will also be possible
