Japanese students studying at NUS try unique foods of Singapore for the first time! Later on, I taught them how to purchase durian at a durian stall – you cannot miss this part, it’s hilarious! Big thanks to Erina, Sho and Ryo for being a great sport.

  1. Pour water in the husk and sprinkle some salt in it and stir with a finger. It serves to cool the body down since durians are considered as heaty food.

  2. I thought drinking from the husk is not to remove the smell but to lower the heatiness of eating durians.

  3. You should ask the hawker to not add chilli. You're not supposed to smell the durian. Sick? Eat too much, blood sugar level overshot?

  4. Still remember it to this day when a foreigner friend said: durian might smell like hell, but it tastes like heaven.

  5. I don't like Japanese. Uneasy when someone is too nice or too polite to me.

  6. I am Singaporean and learned something from Ken san…
1:07 FOCUS just like mediating …
I do that next time 😂😂😂😂
    😂😂😂😂

  7. You actually need to add maybe 1/4 teaspoon of salt into the water, it's said to aid with cooling you down from the "heatiness" of the fruit itself while the shell removes the lingering smell

  8. oh yey, she liked the durian! I'm always happy when I see someone liking durian. but i think it's better to have them try it in candy or jam or ice cream first and like it in that form before the real fruit.

  9. So funny that the Japanese students think the musang durians are expensive at $50 cos Japan premium fruits can go up to hundreds and thousands of dollars at auctions.

  10. The vegetable use in Rojak is actually called Jicama, also known as mang guang or mexican turnip. The texture will be crunchier than turnip after cooking and the taste profile is more similar to a fruit rather than a vegetables.

  11. Cempedak is actually one kind of jackfruit, but sweeter, stronger flavor, and higher in fibre. The seed is also edible and tastes like chestnut.

  12. Next time please ask a Singapore friend who know the durian seller to avoid being cheated for the MSW durian…… you are not getting the real one and prices….it is hard to find honest durian seller here as a foreigner. Ever local Singaporean get cheated. Hahahaha

  13. Always love his videos. He's typically Singaporean already. 😊🙏💐

  14. You are supposed to add salt, run it on the interior then drink. Supposed to get rid of the heatyness hahaha
