Lanikai Beach

Lanikai means โ€œHeavenly Seaโ€ and this heavenly stretch of beach is often ranked as one of the top beaches in the world. Unlike many of the other beaches on Oahu, Lanikai remains relatively calm throughout the year. This makes it perfect for a relaxing day with friends or family.

During three-day holiday weekends, the city doesn’t allow parking along streets and shoulders from 10 am to 3 pm

There really are no accommodations at Lanikai Beach. The parking is minimal, there are no restrooms, and there are no lifeguards.

  1. Nice video John. Iโ€™ve driven Lanikai loop hundreds of times through the years. I used to work at Bluestone, right at the beginning of the pillbox trailhead so I was in Lanikai every day. I noticed the beach access in the opening shot of the video. The one with the sandbags in the front of that beach house there. I think thatโ€™s #9 but me and my girlfriend used to just call it โ€œSandbag beachโ€. We used to go fishing on that beach and I remember when those sandbags werenโ€™t there. Sea level rise has taken the beach width away and was eroding the beach all the way up to the yards. No beach at all on the left side anymore. Hence the sandbags. But mahalo for bringing back memories of one of the nicest beaches on Oahu. Aloha ๐Ÿค™๐Ÿผ

  2. visited Lanikai beach exactly one week ago while on first Hawaii vacation….now I am back in reality, sitting at work at my desk in cold Canada lol. Anyways, I loved this beach and can't wait to go back someday. Thanks for sharing the video

  3. I have watched all your videos. I'll be visiting Hawaii next week and I'll be driving around. I enjoy your videos and the little tips and diagrams you add. Thank you for ride.

  4. Suggest Lanipo dr and Aalapapa dr…straight walk down to the beach.Another place I lived before tourism picked up.Poopoo Pl and Aalapa dr!Used to walk the loop in the morning for exercise!Back in the early 1980โ€™s you could have bought a house there for 115 thousand dollars!Someone literally was doing that…young and dumb…my friends and I couldnโ€™t figure out why someone would pick every house…including the one I lived in up for that!I suggest going very early and walking the loop and then goin to the beach before the mob shows up!Beautiful! The beachside houses used to be rented out to movie stars…Elvis Presley,Don Ho owned a House!Never more than 10 people on the whole stretch.People would swim or go out to the island by surfboard!Great video! There is a road up to Makapuu ridge overlooking Sea Life Park.Youโ€™ll have to find a hanglider pilot to open the gate…but the most beautiful sight!

  5. If you walk along Lanikai beach on a moonless night, you can see thousands of little blue shiny dots shimmering on the beach.

  6. Excellent video! It may be asking too much but it would be nice if you point out which are the public side parking too. Residents might not like it but lot more people will appreciate it.

  7. We went there Saturday July 3rd and it was super crowded. The parking spaces on the street you see here all had no parking signs due to some kind of construction.

  8. im sorry if I missed it… are access points clearly marked ? thanks for the heads up with parking. will be out first time in sept.
