Part 2: I explore the Covi Caravan, Motorhome & Destinations Supershow in Auckland, NZ this March. I get to hang out in the Bailey Phoenix caravan I’ll be staying in for my UK trip in July/August!!

I share a little more of the seminar I took at the show. Talking on stage is something I never thought I’d do… this would have been my worst nightmare 2 years ago! But I’m so glad I had this experience and feel like people enjoyed the talk.

Who’s in it? In order:
– Bailey Phoenix
– Rangefinder
– Dethleffs
– JB Caravans
– Lewis Gray (Thetford)
– Jayco
– New Age

  1. The aussie caravans would probably do well on NZ s lumpy roads. Friends of mine with an American RV ended up with a big repair bill as the underbody was cracking.

  2. Hi. Great to hear of another kiwi going to UK to tour in a caravan. My husband and I are planning early retirement to tour UK & Europe real slowly. We have UK passports, so hoping that will get us over a few of the hurdles. But have a few things that I can't work out order to do things in. UK bank account, UK drivers license (B+E) (as I expect we will be over the 3500kg allowed on international drivers license), insurance, mail. Would love to hear how you get over the logistics of any of these.

  3. Yes that was a washing machine
Hopefully picking my New Age caravan next month, short tips around south east Queensland and Northern NSW.

  4. Try to catch up with David Johns a retired journalist living on a narrow boat and camper van… Would be very good for your subscriber numbers if you can snag an interview from him….

  5. Hi Karen, Thanks for another great video. Your talk on stage sounded like it went well. You mentioned about being more relaxed on camera than in front of a live audience. Keeping in mind when on camera hundreds of billions of people may be watching!!! Oops, maybe I shouldn't have said that. LOL. Did you actually buy the UK caravan or will you be just renting it while in the UK? If you had both caravans, that would add more room space while travelling, though hauling two caravans together may be a bit difficult. Just curious, how is the TV reception when travelling in a caravan? I would guess that at some locations, TV may not be possible to receive. I know one thing, digital TV here doesn't seem to work in any moving vehicles in most cases. I used to be able to receive analogue TV a lot easier. Incidentally, at 5:02 on this video, I am just trying to work out if that is a TV in the shower or is it a cupboard? Watching TV while in the shower is one thing that I have never attempted!!! Anyway, wishing you the very best. Robert.

  6. Almost every Aussie van I have looked at, although good off road, have no insulation and no heating and they weigh in at 2300kgs, which is very heavy. I wanted a Bailey Rangefinder, but you cant get them with Grade 3 insulation and I looked at the new JB Caravans, again the same issue, uninsulated for cold winters They are great in the summer in NZ, but useless in the winter in the South Island. They can be ordered with a heating package, but not with an insulation option for cold sub-zero winters needed in Queenstown or Central Otago. So if you are not full timing in cold climates, they are okay, but down where its below 5 Celcius, they are not very practical as a full-timing living option. UK vans have at least Grade 3 insulation and are good for at least -10 Celcius. I've even seen a UK Bailey caravan similar to the one you are borrowing in -15 Celcius and it was toasty warm inside.

  7. Hope you find time to visit Whitby up in North Yorkshire. Best fish and chips. Good luck, you'll love the UK.

  8. Great video's, I thoroughly enjoy them, I also spent time living in a caravan in the UK.
I hope you enjoy your time in the UK in your luxurious Bailey van..

  12. Hi Karen. Are you coming to Bristol on your UK trip? It's a great city and where Bailey's based. Are they sorting you out with the caravan? Pete

  13. Hi Karen we really like the Bailey Phoenix the one you are going to use,we have a 2010 Swift Fairway 440
but if we could afford a new van it would definitely be the Bailey ,you will like the Peak District if you get chance
when you are in the UK great Vlogs.

  14. Great job with the seminar! Keen to know how the loo is going after the experiment with the river stone? Also, have you done any touring of northland?

  15. Great to hear your giving the UK a visit, don’t forget to pay Bonnie Scotland a visit, especially the west coast and the far north, some of the most scenic driving roads found anywhere, also some of the best caravan sites with a view, plus some of the best beaches found around (just don’t dip your toe in the water or it’ll fall off from the cold). Hope I’ve sold Scotland to you and if you do visit don’t forget the insect repellent for the famous Scottish Midges if visiting in the summer.

  16. I would imagine the Australian caravans would be more expensive that the European caravans ? Your UK trip sounds exciting .

  19. I think for your trip to the UK you need to include the snowdonia national park. A number of attractions a small slate railway for starters!

  20. Your excitement is so infectious. You are almost radiant in your enthusiasm over this Rig. I am actually a little jealous. They have so many new options for campers/caravans. Really great vlog Girl…thanks…Vic
