I took the “Sunrise” sleeper express with a Nobiー Nobi Seat! (”Nobi Nobi” means Stretch in Japanese)You can take a Nobi Nobi Seat with a Japan Rail Pass.
The Nobiー Nobi seat is just a carpet on the floor, so to be honest, it is not very comfortable!😅
I had to spread a blanket on the floor to make sleeping a little more tolerable.
Also, there is a pillow cover, but no pillow🤣, hence it would be better to bring something to replace the pillows. I brought an inflatable pillow.
There are no women-only seats in the Nobiー Nobi seating area.
However, when I boarded the train, half of the passengers were women.
Most of the seats are open spaces, so solo female travellers can usually use them without any problems.
If you see a pervert, shout “Chikan😠”! Chikan means pervert in Japanese!
If you want to use a private room with your Japan Rail Pass, you need to pay for an express ticket and a sleeper ticket additionally.
