This aircraft is referred to as the C40-B by the US Air Force and is based on the the Boeing 737-700 BBJ Business Jet. wow. a C40-B was just doing touch and goes at my local airport the other day!
is this the Air Force Two?
No Air Force two is usually a 757 or 747 Hilary Clinton uses this one quite a bit
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Air Force 1/2 is just a callsign that can be put to any aircraft. If the president is flying in a cessna, it's still going to be Air Force 1. I believe Air Force 2 is used for any aircraft carrying the Vice President.
Ya any plane he is on is considered Air Force 1,Air Force 2 is the back up plane that comes with AF 1 as far as I know
Indeed! many people think it's impossible for a 737 to cross the Atlantic Ocean. But in fact there are a select amount of Carriers (1 only that i know of) operate transatlantic flights.
they fill the plane up to the brim with fuel!
Your videos are great because you provide so much background information. I love the birdsong on this one!
A cessna would only be AF1 if it were actually operated by the USAF.
The aircraft carrying the potus / vp is named for the service operating it. Air Force One / Two is operated by the Air Force, hence its name.
The president's helicopter is operated by the USMC, hence it is called Marine One. The plane that carried GWB to the carrier in 2003 was designated Navy One for the duration of the flight.
A civilian aircraft would be designated Executive One. This has never actually happened however.
These 737-7CPs (C40Bs) have the same range as the Transoceanic range as the 4 B747-200B Intercontinentals (C32As) assigned to the 89th Airlift Wing/Presidential Airlift Group out of Andrews AFB. And all 3 of the 757s, and several of the 737s have all been used as Air Force One (and ALL as Air Force Two for the VP), as well as Gulfstream G550s (C-37Bs) for AF1 & AF2, as all have more than a 14-hour flight range…
There were 17 built before 3 more were added in 2011. The 3 additional were added to the 89th Airlift Wing/Presidential Airlift Group at Andrews AFB to add to the existing ones supplementing the 757s. The rest are for the 4-Star Combatant Commanders across the globe & assigned to the various Armed Services.
And now referred to as CZAR AIR.
It retire or active
Yes still active I presume. Why wouldn't it be ?! This is quite a new aircraft
nice movie!
