There are so many people from Hawaii who love traveling to Japan. When they come back from Japan, they always talk about how good the food and shopping was. And those things are great. However, I wanted to talk about some things other than the food and shopping that I think Hawaii people love about Japan. I’ve been to Japan many times and I’ve enjoyed each experience. And so I just wanted to provide my commentary on things to love in Japan from a guy from Hawaii’s perspective.

Got to be careful not matter where you are in the world…cause I know of a horrible case from
Thanks! 👍👏🤙
Aloha…I'm born & raised in Hawaii…
Here in the islands are very nice places to see, but certain areas U don't want to be at night…Thats all over the world traveling…My cousin's son was kidnap in Hokkaido at 2 yrs old…He was dropped at a road side; the family believed because he spoke English…So don't be too over confidence in a foreign land…
Be Akamai! ( Be SMART!) 😊🤙
How is the homelessness in Japan?
Interesting, as always. I guess everyplace has its strengths and weaknesses, yah? Thanks!
Did you know those shoes are related to the founder of Nike and Hawaii?
Doesn't cities in Japan, Korea and China have CCTV? Hawaii's does not like some countries that have CCTV and are being monitored. Also the fact that some Asian law enforcement can be much stricter once thrown in, Americans might not enjoy that experience.
I agree that customer service in Hawaii is better for tourist than locals.
A few weeks ago I saw locals bbq at CORP in Waipio and there’s a bunch of trash cans but they left their empty beer cans among other trash in the parking lot. So shame.
not having to drive in rush hour to get anywhere lol
How come you are wearing only a Tshirt while everyone else are wearing coats? Also is the price of the shoes you bought comparable to Hawaii?
Yes, I was the only one wearing a t-shirt. Not sure because it wasn't that cold. Maybe I got thick skin from my time in Colorado? 😁
The cleanliness in some countries are unreal
Hawaii could be one of those countries .

Thank you for sharing and stay safe
Enjoy your vacation with your family
Politeness Level: Japan – Check out 1:53 the delivery lady gets off of her bicycle to pass Chris. 😮
I totally agree with you. I also like that the people are so compliant. The people have good morals and “do the right thing”. It used to be like that in Hawaii but not anymore. I think the problem in Hawaii and the mainland is that there is no longer accountability for bad behavior or actions. We use to preached to our kids as they were growing up the golden rules: “Do the right thing, do your best and treat others the way you want to be treated”. Maybe if more people would preach theses rules to their children and grandchildren, maybe we would have less bad behavior. We can only hope.🤞
When we went to Japan, I knew in advance (from watching YouTube) that there were no trash cans in the city so I carried a plastic bag in my backpack for any trash we generated and threw it away at my son’s home. Thank goodness for learning from YouTube! Lol!
Couldn’t have said it better Chris🤙🏽 You nailed it. Phrases like “I’m entitled” or “be vigilant” are non existent here. As for walking around. I can walk alone anywhere in Japan even way past midnight. I can’t say that about my hometown Hilo. I’m still a Hawaii local boy all the way, but living here is inspirational and refreshing.
Yokohamaaaaa, my old stomping grounds! Enjoy! Check out dumbo pizza factory
There used to be trash cans, but in the mid nineties the Aum cult was releasing sarin in various places, and bins were sealed so they couldn’t put any in there. I think it’s since then that trash cans gradually disappeared. Again my guess, but I think trash cans have disappeared in convenience stores because people were dumping household trash in them. The rules for separating garbage are quite bothersome so maybe that’s why they did it, and convenience stores got rid of their trash cans. As someone has said, we need to carry a plastic bag and take trash home or back to the hotel.
Welcome to Japan! I have been watching your you tube and Yokohama is my hometown. It is glad to see familiar places in your you tube! Enjoy your stay in Japan🙌
Hi Chris, On a side note do you use a hot spot when you are there? If so where did you get it. Thanks👍
Just came home from Japan, it felt like home. The culture and kindness so much like us!
Japan is very safe and clean around wealthy high-traffic areas like the one you are walking through, but go off into a side street and it's a different story. For sure, with all the old people, you'd think there would be more benches and places to sit. The story is that it would invite homeless people to use them as beds.
The reason why Japan is safe is because there is no obscene gap in wealth like there is in the US. Also, remember that Japan is a Buddhist country so when bad stuff happens to you it's your karma and you can't blame others.
Dollar is stronger against Yen…..so buy more goods! Enjoy ! Don't they look at you as japanese? Did you find they are super nicer to white people than ….??Longer stay, you will find other side of face…darker side of cultute???😎🤔😂😁
I totally agree with you on all of your points! #1, The “Aloha Spirit” is definitely gone from Hawaii! #2, Crime in Honolulu is AWFUL! As you mentioned, you have to constantly look over your back and sides when walking around anywhere! #3, Filth, there is garbage all over, homeless all over, broken public facilities (restroom) at Ala Moana Beach Park and even in Waikiki!
Japan may be one of the safest places in the world. I go out for walks around a park near my house sometimes at 1 am or later to have a quiet time here in Tokyo, the most congested city in the world, and I would see some young women sitting on the park benches texting on their smartphones. Where else in the world would women be able to do that safely?
Very true!
Good obervation. As you know I am a Norske da kine. But I live in Honolulu. I go to Japan at least 4 times a year. One thing I notice is how aware the people in Japan are. I am disabled and they help in so many ways. Even when I don't ask. Thank you for reminding me 🌴🌴Aloha
I KNEW this was gonna be da follow up!! ☝️😁🎉
What's with all the attacks in Hawaii? Stabbings, gun shots, fights, etc… What can make someone commit those crimes living in Hawaii? It makes no sense to me.
Hi, your videos have helped me so much. As of right now I'm not old enough to book a hotel but I plan on working hard so I can save money to visit Hawai'i and I've been doing my research and even started learning the language. Your videos are amazing and mahalo!!
From what I was told, after the Sarin gas attack in 1995, many of the trash cans were removed, esp in confined places like the train stations. Secondly I was also told they don't usually eat and walk. They will stand/sit outside the convenience stores and eat there where they will find find cans or people will just put the trash in their own bags and bring home to dispose of there.
