A rare weather window for a 25km walk and wild camp in the Mourne Mountains. Exploring new ground for me following the Annalong River, past the Binnian Tunnel into the mountains. A 4.30pm sunset had me walking in the dark to a favourite campsite high above Ben Crom Reservoir. A cold meal and an uncomfortable 13 hours in the bivyโ„๏ธ before the warmth of the sunโ˜€๏ธappeared. Always good to be out walking and wild camping no matter the weather๐Ÿ‘ฃ๐Ÿ˜Š

  1. The old farm house was intresting and so jelly of the Red Squirrels, didn't know you had them in Northern Ireland, you should have seen Kat's ears perk up! ๐Ÿฟโค๏ธโ˜•๏ธ

  2. Amzing scenery as you have come away from the forest ๐Ÿชต โ›ฐ๏ธ the rivers and waterfalls, wow! ๐Ÿ‘

  4. Thanks for sharing this I've been up there lot's of times but I wouldn't do what you've done your very brave ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ˜Š

  5. Loved the kit unload and setup, eXped โค๏ธ long dark and cold nights a hoi! Going to share this with 54 Degrees North, think he'd love this! Cold tuna an dcold water, like a Bush tucker trial! ๐Ÿ˜‹ down booties sound nice and snug! ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿซ–โค๏ธ

  6. Definitely worth the cold night ๐Ÿฅถ those clouds rolling over the mountains, special โ›ฐ๏ธ๐Ÿฅฐ

  8. Nice one gerry – watched it all. Yeah, great to see the hidden water world there. It'll be there a good while yet I reckon. But the stove though bro? And the phone? There are things you can do for memory. Ha ha! Well, good to see the pitch was in reasonable condition. Take care over there. Mark

  9. Nothing worse than forgetting gear. Hope you had a big warm breakfast when u got home Gerry. The clouds rolling over and the music was brilliant ๐Ÿ‘

  10. Great Gerry. What a great story and journey. I love how comfortable you are in this environment. And it was so good to see you take a new route in to the mountains but come back to the familiar. Can't imagine though how you survived without your iconic cuppa tea. Brilliant as always.

  11. Hi Gerry, cool video mate, as always! The buildings were a great addition, just the sight of those old Irish structures makes my own Irish blood begin to sing! A lot of cracking info as usual. And the land! The land is fookin' stunning man. Lovely winter colours as far as the eyes can see! 18:3020:20 ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ‘Œ Keep 'em coming Gerry!

  12. I starred wild camping on my own after watching your videos.cheers for the tips.Keep it up

  13. I know roughly where you camped , good job you didnโ€™t get water out of the river there , was a dead sheep laying in it a few weeks ago when we were up there ๐Ÿ™ˆ . loving your content , have solo camped just up from there at the wall a while back .

  14. 13 hours in a bivvy bag without hot food hot water and a bar lol Gerry you're mad ๐Ÿ™‚ in a nice way… A very watery video ๐Ÿ™‚ I'm due up the mournes this weekend, I'd love to do a snowy wild camp ๐Ÿ™‚ but bivvy is too extreme for me ๐Ÿ™‚ great video as always… loved it M โ˜˜๏ธ

  15. Great stuff ๐Ÿ‘ love the shot at 16:20.
It's great when the sun comes out after a chilly night ๐ŸŒž
It's been nice having this settled period after all the miserable wind and rain.
Looking forward to the next one ๐Ÿ‘

  16. You coped very well without your stove Gerry – tuna and icey cold water ๐Ÿคญ The stove wont be forgotten again for a while now no doubt! Gorgeous shots of the rolling mist and light the following morning, such a wonderful sight to see and experience. You were possibly having tea withdrawals while in your bivy that night ๐Ÿ˜ฌSome new land explored – looked a lovely route to take! ๐Ÿ‘

  17. Awesome as.always Gerry, fantastic scenery,. Shame about the stove tho, we.all.forget gear and it does affect us mentally, ya did well, Ben crom reservoir is iconic, we.all end up there, my fav place, thanks for sharing Gerry. Take care. ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป

  18. Great video as per usual Gerry, lol about the stove though. I forgot to take my boots one time, all i had was a spare pair of trail running shoes in the car… suffice to say, my feet were soaking at the end of the walk. Not having a warm brew especially is a tough one to go without when your wet and cold. I'm still not convinced with the bivvi bag sleeping though, i'm still opting for a tent. ๐Ÿ™‚

  19. Fair play to you Gerry, you are really hard core. Whilst the rest of us are tucked up in our warm beds with our electric blankets you're out in the wild sleeping under the sky, and no stove for hot food. I'm not sure if you're brave or mad!! You got some cracking Mourne views though and blue skies and your comments on the wall are so true. Great video as usual, regards, Ashley

  20. Fair play for sticking it out with no stove Gerry, think I would have legged it lol, great video and content as usual, enjoyed that

    Stuart.

  21. You're away out again Gerry!!!!!! Getting your head showered. Are you mad or mental? Doing a bit of 'suburban' exploring there at the start, and you saw 2 red squirrels! Wow! As usual not too many others about!!!!!!!!!Looks like you are on your ownio! Walking in the dark!!!! Aaaaaah! As the Stones sang all those years ago. 'Give me Shelter'. lol Yes I'm sure that was a cold one! Frost on the boots! Lesson learned….bring the stove! Fantastic Ben Crom views!!!! But no tea!!!!!!!!!!!! Aaaaaaah! another good one Gerry!

  22. Those rolling clouds in the morning were so worth the endurance of the cold and the night-trek and the no tea situation! Impressive footage as always Gerry!

  23. Well done for keeping smiling with no stove – that's a nightmare scenario! Fantastic walk along the river though, mind.

  24. Hello my friend ๐Ÿ‘‹ hope you are well ๐Ÿ˜Š๐ŸŒน I visited your fantastic channel and enjoyed watching. definitely fantastic views ๐Ÿ˜Š Keep up and keep sharing such stunning video. Thanks for the cool share, magical content, I am greatful for sharing your amazing work with us. well done ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ˜Š very enjoyable. Big thumbs up๐Ÿ‘ I send you success and blessings ๐ŸŒน stay healthy, have a pleasant day. Here is your friend Athir from Canada ๐Ÿ˜Š ๐ŸŒน๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

  25. Gerry, you're hardcore bivvying this time of year ๐Ÿฅถ Your heart must have sunk when you realised you forgot the stove ๐Ÿ˜ญ Fair play for sticking it out and staying smiling ๐Ÿ’ช Bet you were glad you brought that banana! ๐ŸŒ

  26. Hi Gerry! Great that you could get out in November! Itโ€™s really nice to see what the mountains are like during the different seasonsโ€ฆ though itโ€™s a bit challenging when it gets dark at 4:30. Over here on the cloudy winter days it actually starts getting dark as soon as 3:30. Long time to spend in the bivy without a hot supper โ€ฆ good thing you remembered your headlamp! It would have been a bit tricky without it. Gorgeous views with the sunlight and clouds rolling over the hills. I totally agree, great to be out, no matter the weather! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ’ฆโ˜€โ˜€ Thanks for another great video!

  27. Great video ! I loved watching it. Did you really stay that calm and good humoured when you realised youโ€™d forgotten the stove ? I would have been effing and blinding and calling myself all the names of the day.
Until I got to the map at the end I thought I knew where you bivvied but youโ€™re route does not go far enough downstream for that spot, can I ask if your spot is on the recorded trail or did you drop down the river a bit ? Iโ€™ve only bivvied 3 or 4 times and neither myself nor the friends involved figured out the approach of putting the sleeping mat inside the bag. Doh !

  28. Hiya mate, I was chatting to Ceri and Kat and they told me to check your channel out

Looks liked a great adventure, I love all the engineering side of things with the rivers

Gutted you forgot your stove, I have a little spreadsheet to work through so I donโ€™t forget anything

It can really ruin a camp canโ€™t it !! Still rather be out than not though

Great to meet you and Iโ€™ll catch you on the next – Alan โ›บ๏ธ๐Ÿ”๏ธ

  29. My god Gerry. Lets chip in for that house. The Wild Campers Hang out ๐Ÿ˜… You are some man for the bivy. Its amazing how far gear has come. That temperature in a bivy. Nightmare about the stove. Nothing worse. I have a check list and I only check it off when it goes in my bag. You are some man Gerry. I'd say you raided the local shop. Stay safe man.
