During Sydney’s lengthy lockdowns in 2021, it seemed there was nothing of note to look forward to. Not only did cruising feel like a distant memory, I couldn’t remember what the street I live on looked like. Craving something to look forward to and really not knowing if cruising would even return in time, I started searching for a cruise for December 2022.
I had no doubt in mind as to what I wanted. Extravagance and luxury. I really wanted to make up for the cruising ban and decided to go big!
I thought it was time to try my first ever Celebrity cruise. Touted as an all-inclusive, luxury, holiday experience, the cruise line has 15 cruise ships in its growing fleet, including the very modern looking Edge Class ship (the Celebrity Edge will be making its way to Australia for the first time at the end of 2023).
The cruise line has marketed itself as an all-inclusive holiday option, with drinks, wifi, and tips included with every room, unless you personally opt to choose a cruise-fare only rate. I’m going one better, and have chosen a stateroom within what Celebrity Cruises call, The Retreat and I’ll tell you more about that in coming videos.
Although I’ve not sailed with Celebrity before this cruise, I have previously sailed with Azamara. They offer a similar all-inclusive cruise experience. Going back almost 5 years now, that cruise still rates as my ultimate holiday at sea, and despite paying a hefty sum to get onboard, between the inclusions and onboard credit, we ended that 18 night cruise having spent $0 extra on the ship.
Celebrity have gone out of their way to market themselves as a luxury cruise line, and I will be putting them to the test onboard the Solstice Class Celebrity Eclipse. The 2010 built ship sits in the middle of the line’s current three class ship line up, and while she misses out on some of the newer Celebrity “Revolutionized” upgrades and updates, she still promises a typically Celebrity experience onboard.
Make sure you subscribe to come along on this journey, as we discover what a luxury all-inclusive cruise with a mainstream cruise line is really like!
Thanks for watching!

I was grateful to living in rural NSW during the second lockdown. I could leave the house and travel to the nearest regional centre 50km away. I'll be looking forward to see how this goes, especially coming from Royal Caribbean Group's family oriented RCL brand. I doubt I'll ever be able to afford a Celebrity cruise, especially The Retreat, so will live vicariously through yourself 🙂 I look forward to your take on the Infinite Veranda, if that's the stateroom type you'll be in. I've heard mixed reviews about it.
Said it before. Sailed 2018 Aqua Class Suite on Celebrity Reflections, 14 day Med cruise and without doubt I've never been served worse food since starting to cruise in Feb 2017 or any of the subsequent 12 cruises
So good luck, but it ain't luxury.
Wow it will be interesting 🤔 to see what Celebrity is like

Enjoy this cruise mate. I went on Celebrity Solstice in 2013 and it was amazing. Can’t wait to hear your review of Celebrity Edge
Very much looking forward to the video 😁
That sound very much like me. All inclusive, extravagance, luxury, holiday experience, tips and WiFi. Having a retreat state room is the icing on the cake. I am happy to replace the Dipsy costume in your suitcase….
We've cruised with Celebrity twice, once to Antarctica and once from Dubai to India on an aborted COVID shut down cruise. We loved it and found the food and also specialty dining to be a notch above RCL, Princess and HAL. Enjoy, you will love it!
Lucky guys. Hope you enjoy your experience and we look forward to your videos. Thanks Adrian.
See you onboard today.
awesome 🙂 you will have such an amazing time 🙂
We've been on about a dozen Celebrity cruises including Eclipse, which is a very nice ship. We're doing a Central/South America and Panama Canal cruise in April. You will love Celebrity!
Hi Adrian, may I ask where your lounge is from? I am looking to buy something like it, thanks
