Japan's mindset changing? – Closed 'for the time being'? [Border Good news update]



There are some positive indicators that might suggest that the way Japan might deal with Covid could change in 2022..

I also look at an update on Japan’s closed border and explore what could potentially be positive indicators regarding a change in Japan’s mindset to the virus and hopefully a change in managing border restrictions in the future.

    Weird how Japan's been locked down so long. Tokugawa Ieyasu would be proud. Financially speaking, I'm not sure how they're surviving 0 tourism for this long..

    Hi from Toronto! The border measures have taken affect on me as I am scheduled to go to a university in Tokyo to continue my studies. Due to the border situation I am currently unable to attend the university there (if things stay the same) and because there are no clear dates it makes it really hard to schedule things. I hope the restrictions change soon and we can all enter Japan!

    Good to see you are looking better this week. There are some things that have been happening here that does not always get top billing in the news. The big one linked to border controls, is the American military arriving in Japan without being tested. This has lead to large outbreaks in the camps of which Okinawa has the highest numbers, but it is happening in other camps. In our prefecture they reported 100 cases in 2 days, which are not included in the Japans infection numbers. This is also leading to increases in cases locally by the Japanese non military worker.
    As for the 3rd booster shot, you hear that is will be done quickly, then maybe not so quick. Difficult to know when we will get one, as there are 31 million medical, elderly and at risk people to get booster first. Then Saturday you get reports on NHK “The third vaccination is in full swing. The supply is limited and there are problems with smooth vaccination “
    It is also being reported that there are shortages of staff in medical institutions due to workers not being allowed in from overseas. Hopefully the government will start to plan how to allow workers and others that have permission to come here.

    Sensei I am a technical trainee from Philippines. I just want to share my situation. First I just want to know why we are not allowed to enter although we are also undergo covid test before the flight and we are fully vaccinated. Why those re entry still can enter to Japan that our procedure same as them. And it's almost 2 years waiting to go in Japan. The very difficult situation was I lost my job because they open the borders and immediately close again that our visa on process. In our side it's very disappointed because we had a lot of expenses and lost our job. The thing is we are not a tourist but we work there for a long period of time and to help your country economy better as well. Please help us and hoping the government considered the visa has a purpose not to tour . Also understand our situation. どうも　ありがとうございました。お疲れさまでした💪🇵🇭
