In the mountains, the autumn foliage season is in its final stages and the ground is covered with fallen leaves in at least 48 different colors. The lack of rainfall over the past month has made the fallen leaves make a crispy, dry sound every time I walk on the ground, adding to the feeling of autumn’s end. Fuji seems to have already put on its winter makeup and is enjoying the autumn leaves below. The transition from autumn to winter is interesting, like watching a painter’s work in reverse. Winter is just around the corner, and it is showing signs of coming. If it moves another two knots or so, a plain silver world will come to these coordinates.
Koyo-dai, Yamanashi Prefecture is located on the ridge of Mount Ashiwada, with Mt. Fuji to the south, Lake Nishiko to the north, and Aokigahara Jyukai of Trees to the west. Koyo-dai, Sankodai, and Gokodai are located on the Tokai Shizen Hodo (Tokai Nature Trail), and offer beautiful scenery that can only be experienced here. As the name suggests, the view from Momijidai is spectacular in autumn.
