If you think that all roads in Switzerland are always and everywhere cleared in black, you are mistaken. You can drive unsuspectingly from the valley up on a mountain road and end up in winter. Who has here no winter tires or a 4×4, has soon lost. Especially at the beginning of winter the road is frozen under the snow – a dangerous combination! So be on your guard if you want to go up in such places with your car!

    Want to put on my cross country skis or a sled. All downhill and take the postal bus back. Skied cross country high above Zermatt once and this elderly woman came flying down the road in a sled. Found out she would take the train back up with her supplies. It was magical like this video. Thanks for the memories!

    Beautiful! How interesting to see the red tipped poles marking out the road ahead. I wonder if the poles are fixed in the ground or are they repositioned as the snow gets deeper so as to always be visible? What a contrast in scenery if you take the same journey with google maps street view in summer.
