J-Village is only 12 mile away from the infamous Fukushima nuclear power plant. It survived the 9.0+ earthquake and subsequent tsunami on 3.11, the strongest ever earthquake measured in Japan since the seismograph was invented!

J-Village became ‘home base’ for those who were working on the recovery operations as well as the location for ‘temporary’ houses for those who were displaced.

Freshly renovated and reopened, J-Village hosted the Argentine National Rugby Team for the Rugby World Cup of 2019, and also was the beginning location of the Olympic flame that came to Japan pre-Covid when the Olympics were to take place in 2020.
