  1. getting me all hyped up for my upcoming trip to hard off, sorry japan. next week !

  2. Our trips actually overlapped by a couple days (I was there October 20-November 2). I do the same thing as you when I'm in Japan. I get on a train in Tokyo that goes way out west to the suburbs, and I shop at all the Hard Offs and Book Offs in the area.

I flew with Air Canada which allowed for 2 free checked bags (50 lbs each). Then I paid the $225 CAD fee to add a 3rd bag, which gave me an extra 70 lbs of stuff I could bring back (to ship just 30 lbs via surface mail would have been over $100 CAD, so it was worth it). They also don't check carry-on weight, so I added another 50 lbs in those bags. It was a wild trip from the hotel to the airport carrying all that luggage, but I made it.

  3. This is the one you've all been waiting for foks. This time we join our Bearded Nerd as he FINALLY gets to return to Japan in nearly three years! We begin by seeing at at his home airport in Chicago, as he hops on a plane for over 13 hours and lands in Japan and makes his way to his accomadation for the next 2 weeks. On the way to his hotel he stops at one of Japans many konbini (Conevience Store) 7-Eleven for a couple sandwhiches and coffees. The next day he heads off to a Japanese thirft store chain known as Hard-Off to look at all kinds of electronics related items. And to close out this episode he goes to a Sushi place.

10 Episodes, oh man. This is gonna be fun. Can you tell I've been waiting for this adventure to start. Thanks Adam.

  4. i'm looking forward to this. let the journey begin… for us viewers at least lol

  5. I think I'm a united club member? I've got a milage plus thing with them as of a month ago.

  6. I'm hoping I don't have much of an issue when I leave with bags full of games and consoles lmao

  7. been looking forward to the Japan videos! man some of that Kura Sushi actually looked really good, especially the tempura shrimp (27:33) I'd be all over that for sure! can't wait to see the rest of the videos.

  8. So basically use the atm for yen at the airport when you get there, then use a 7/11 the rest of the time. Are you still using a suica card for trains or am I mishearing you?

  9. Are the two different prices on game consoles like the price with and without tax?

  10. Adam, this couldn't have came at a better time dude. I'm currently planning a trip for my girlfriend and I to Japan as a surprise gift for her birthday this month/Christmas that's going to be over her spring break in mid March, so I will take any and all recommendations you've got and I'm so stoked you're posting these.

  11. Thanks for this great series! It’s getting me super excited to take my young family to Japan!

  12. The escalator thing reminds me of NYC/NJ. Everyone keeps to one side and then the other side is for people with places to be and walk through lol. I can’t wait to visit Japan. I hope sometime next year. Gene’s late friend used to have one of these Japanese toilets in his apartment. That ebi sushi looked delicious. It’s one of my favorites.

  13. Still have the Suica card in my wallet with some credit. Hopefully next year will be able to use it again.

Just a notice to anyone who is uncomfortable with warmth. Never travel to Japan between May and October, it is unbearable when it comes to heat and humidity. Winter and early spring are absolute the best periods

  14. Loved it, staying tuned for subsequent parts, I hope we get some vending machine action too, what is everyone else hoping for? 😀
