We’ve got a date for the start of Magic Happens in 2023. Disney might be spending a little extra money in the parks next year. Walt Disney World is rumored to be ending or significantly modifying their reservation system. And an interesting update on the reservation calendar at Disneyland.

  1. I am glad they are spending more if it is in the parks. I have never had so many rides break down before the two days I just spent in the park! It was crazy. I had seven rides in two days break down 😒. Fix the rides!

  2. I figured single and multi day tickets would no longer need a reservation and only AP's would.

  3. C'mon. I completely understand what they are doing here with the reservations. if you spend more money – you can come in. No real indication of whether this is protecting them from crowded conditions – just a fact of if you REALLY REALLY want to come to the park – you need to spend more money and then you can come. This is Disneyland 101 these days. I agree with you on the merch line for key holders – but its also obvious the park has not changed its tactic for new foods or merch. Limited time, limited stock on hand, that doesn't benefit someone planning their vacation in advance. That's only locals with passes. Its also another sign that Disney public speak vs what they really do are WAY different. 27th and 28th of December usually are local football teams and their bands attending with families for the Rose Bowl. Could that create enough demand to limit the reservations?

  4. Remember that Igor has yet to have a in depth conversation with Josh about the parks (as when Igor came back). I would guess that some things are going forward as planned prior to change over of CEO’s. Just to put out there: Magic Key program (DLR) to change early 2023? Reservation system to change prior to summer time (more visitors from outside CA)? The money set aside to re-invest in the business; will it be profitable (short term and/or long term), because that is what the investors & board want as results for 2023 going forward. The economics of a business seem to have changed with possible recession (domestic and/or world wide).

  5. The single day and park hopper having different parks and having a lot of single day tickets being blocked happened to me when I was booking a trip in September for an October trip. It was blocking me and forcing me into DCA on an Oggie Boggie night. The reservation opened up a couple days later and everything was wide open.

  6. I like the reservation system. I have been several times under this system and it makes the parks much, much more enjoyable. There are far less crowds and it is far less hectic. I don't think it is a problem at all to plan your trip there.

  7. Ride maintenance and general park maintenance and freshen up. Hire back and TRAIN CMs to give the magic experience that absolutely no one sees anymore.

  8. You don't know how happy this made me! The 24th is our last day there!! And I have reservations for Disneyland that day! SO EXCITED!!!

  9. FYI, as a former CM, I can tell you that December 27/28 are typically the days EVERY year that Disneyland sells out and that is because those are the days the the Rose Bowl teams, bands, families and fans are invited to the Resort. If a SoCal Team is in the Rose Bowl it’s a little lighter than normal but because most are from out of state the Resort gets PACKED. I worked there for over 5+ years and every year it was the same on those days.

  10. I agree with you and pass holders spend more on merch and food. Prior to becoming pass holders we kept really small and strict budgets with regard to merch and food.

  11. Since the park reservations are for staffing, most of you staff would be scheduled during you least attended days. This would be Tuesday and Wednesday. That might explain the wonky numbers during the peak two week time frame of Christmas and New Year.

  12. The problem for me on the reservation schedule is this: All the Magic Keys have more availability in a certain way across all the keys. BUT if you have friends or relatives etc. that are visiting and don't want to invest in the Magic Keys, they purchase the regular tickets (or have to since Magic Keys aren't available to purchase even if you were willing to chunk down the unnecessary extra cost.) The general ticket calendars have available reservations towards the left side of the calendar, the opposite of the Magic Key Calendars. Now, I could see if they were being greedy how this would work to Disney's advantage IF the Magic Key's were available those people would be forced to pay for the Magic Key's, that would be their only way of joining they're friends. BUT THEY AREN'T AVAILABALE. So how does this make ANY sense! I chunked down the big bucks to get the Inspire for me, the Believe for my husband based on our availability, then got multi-tickets for my mom cause she can't go as often. But based on how they've set up the system I have not been able to schedule ANY trips to Disneyland for us. THIS IS SO AGRAVATING I JUST CAN'T TAKE IT! These guys are Business Majors I'm sure I'm not the only one that has BUYER'S REMORSE over this! Isn't it bad enough that Bob Chapik decided to order everyone to cut portions in the food and still raise the prices? It's ridiculous. I know many people that are boycotting Disney. So of course they've gotten a bad quarterly review!

  13. The entire reservation system just needs to get scrapped completely like every other theme park. All of this is just more complicated than it has to be.

  14. Omg single day park hoppers are SO expensive. Paid for one day for a guest to go with us key-holders between the hols in early Nov, wowza. Just wanted a most perfect day, and yes we had one. Indescribable, great day, but I def paid a lot for it.

  15. Just getting caught up on your channel. Great info as always!
For the single day calendar you showed, what tier ticket did you select? Just curious.

  16. Not many people get park hoppers because they don't like to park hop literally. Either to save money or they don't see a need for it. There's more availability for park hopper for those 2 reasons

  17. I would also look at if there are conventions going on at the time, as usually they tend to book disneyland fast
